Stayed at the Burg for only 1 night but would go back in a second - to the city and to this hotel. We asked for a room with a view and definitely got it. We had a corner room which was bigger than most North Amercian standard size rooms, let alone European. Some furnishings were dated but the room... More

Burg hotel has an excellent location. We stayed in a family room, very comfortable, big and clean. It was near the breakfast room and we heard no noise at all. Everybody speaks english in the hotel,so we had no problem. The breakfast is very good and the room has a beautiful view. The only problem in this hotel is the absence of an elevator. We had to... This was our second stay. Our first stay was in 2006 and we were so impressed, that we returned this year. The Burg has all the ammenities a traveller could want. Our flight home left early and that morning we found a breakfast prepared for us in the lobby. The rooms are very clean and up to any standard. The... More

I stayed at the Burg Hotel for nearly two weeks in July. It is good value for the price, but it is not without problems. The first is that there is usually only one person at the desk, so getting help with luggage is unlikely, and absent a lift, plan on hauling it yourself. The room I had initially was... More

The Hotel Burg is a small hotel in the castle district of Budapest. My partner and I stayed at the hotel in April 2008, this was on the recomendation of a work colleague who is Hungarian. The hotel was clean and functional. The staff were pleasant and resolved any problems we had quickly. The views of St. Mathias church, which... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Burg Hotel. It is a quaint 3-star hotel located right on top of Castle Hill next to the Matthias Cathedral and within walking distance of the Danube, Castle Hill sites and old town. If you are looking for something more romantic and quiet on the Buda side, you cannot get a... More

We returned to the Hotel Burg in September because we had stumbled on it a few years back and we were so impressed with it. We wanted to say "hi" to Lajos the long time manager and we knew the hotel would be just what we wanted. We booked directly with the hotel. As so many have said it is... More

The Burg Hotel was a sufficient hotel in a fabulous location. The service was very good, the rooms were on par with a Best Western, the location on Trinity Square with a view of the church from every room was wonderful. It is however a very busy square with a bus stop right outside of our room (107) and I... More

My family (myself, wife, 3 year old son, mother and father-in-law) have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Burg Hotel. We stayed in 2 large rooms. Most of the reviews below are right on: it is a good place for the price. It is very clean. Just don't expect any extras: Staff is at an absolute minimum.... More

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
