The hotel is very old and the rooms are not very clean. Reception was nice and gave us an upgrade for the room. It was big but not very nice. First level has iron in front of the window. Gave us a save feeling. We had a minibar but the food and beer was out of date. There was no...

The Bara Junior is attached to the 3-star Bara by a long corridor, with the same lobby and restaurant. I stayed there a week and was lucky to get room 123, on the top floor with a balcony and a great view of the back side of the Castle hill. I found the front desk staff to be competent and...

Once I get there the receptionist lost my reservation, then me and my friends were put in a very dirty room under restructuraction. The day after they gave us another room, nice and clean. Last day they said that I didn't pay when I paid before, so for proving it I had to waste a lot of time and I...

This hotel is situated in Buda and is well served by buses (also by night buses). If you take the bus 8 or 112 at Avar Utca stop, just a few meters from the hotel, you can easily get to the Ferenciek Tere metro station. My double room was quite large with poor and old furnishings. Very small bathroom with...

For our citytrip for 5 days to Budapest we stayed at the Bara Junior Hotel. It's located about a 15 minute walk from the centre of Pest ( although there is a bustop in front of the hotel ) Rooms and furniture are a little bit outdated but clean. We travelled from the airport to the hotel with the airport...

Staying in Gellert Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Gellert Hill
If you want to treat your camera to some amazing scenery, Gellért Hill is a must on your itinerary. A funicular journey from the Chain Bridge along the hillsides provides a fast connection between Buda and Pest, hoisting visitors to panoramic vistas. Once on top of the hill, you’ll find the Citadel dominate the landscape with its imposing 19th century construction, a site that’s hard to keep your eyes on without being distracted by the phenomenal view over the Danube and the eight bridges crossing. Once on Gellért Hill however, one mustn’t miss the famous Gellért Baths. Budapest is renown for its thermal waters and its baths, and the Gellért Baths are housed in an impressive art nouveau structure. Its interior design, with its many mosaics, recalls the preceding relationships the city has had with healing springs and saunas, traditionally used within this neighborhood since the Ottoman Empire.
