This hotel has impressive installations on the walls, wooden stairs, old-fashioned furniture and a touch of mysticism. Still, enough comfortable, situated in the old town and not noisy. Breakfast rich and tasty.

Stayed in a superior room at the back of the hotel. It was comfortable, spacious and quiet. Good variety of food for breakfast including local dishes, fresh fruit, pancakes, yogurt etc. Good service, extra pillows provided and, when we mentioned we needed an early checkout, we were offered a packed breakfast. Airport bus a 5min walk away.

My wife and I stayed here for three nights. Chose it based on the earlier reviews on TripAdvisor but there are quite a few deficiencies that the management needs to work on. First the pros: 1. Excellent location, just metres away from the Dome Cathedral and a maximum of 15 minutes walk from all the major sights and restaurants. 2....

Elegant hotel in a hostoric building in the heart of the old town with nicely furnished rooms and a good breakfast. Phenomenal value for money. There was a lot of noise from the street in the wee hours of the weekend nights but that would probably have been no different than any other street in the old town.

Room was good, clean and quiet; breakfast good, service excellent; the location of the hotel is great, right in the center. Decoration remembers the past. For next stay in Riga we will come again into this hotel.

Great hotel, mixture of modern and rustic decor, good size rooms, staff really friendly, fairly central to the old town, just a 5 minute walk to the shops and restaurants. The hotel was an ideal location for a long weekend site seeing.

Stayed here for 2 nights recently and would definitely recommend. Staff are really friendly and helped us print our boarding passes for our return flights. Rooms are spacious and bathrooms nice and modern. Breakfast is a buffet with something for all tastes. It is well located within Riga, within walking distance of most of the main attractions. The quirky decor...

This hotel is making better and better impression every time I visit it. After intenssive travelling for work, Scandics, Radissons, Novotels etc have been seen and these small 'butique' kind of places are more pleasant to stay. The building itself is an old one but has been reconstructed with good taste. The rooms are spacious enough and clean. Location is...

Spent three nights here with my husband and 2 grown-up children. We arrived earlier than expected (3 hours before official check-in time) and went to the hotel hoping to leave luggage before exploring the city. The reception staff spoke excellent English and advised us that our room was already ready and could have the keys. Being able to freshen up...

Just spent 3 nights here with my husband. A lovely welcome from young lady on reception, who was so helpful, showing us where the various places we wanted to visit were on a local map. Our room was large, as was ensuite shower room, very clean and comfortable. There was a free safe in the wardrobe, essential for money, passports...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Four-star boutique Hotel Justus is located in the very of the old town of Riga, literally a few steps away from the famous Dome cathedral, within the architectural area protected by UNESCO as a part of world heritage. The immaculate renovation of the historical building was completed by April 2009, and so today the authentic facade conceals 45 cosy rooms uniquely designed to embrace the charm of genuine brickwork combined with fascinating art objects, antique as well as contemporary. Personalised service matched with attractive pricing policy makes Hotel Justus of great interest for a wide range of guests. The hotel’s site possesses high historical value, since it was part of the plot of land selected by Bishop Albert as the location for his Baltic residence back in 1210. However, the medieval wooden housing was destroyed by the fire in the 17th century, so the architectural ensemble comprising Jauniela Street today dates back to the 18th century. The facade of the hotel itself underwent the last major alteration in 1874. The building hosted a tavern in the early 19th century that was later replaced by typography and lithography services, in the 20th century it was occupied by artisan workshops, pharmaceutical laboratories, and then a cinema gallery and offices. Charms of architecture and historical atmosphere made this place a favourite shooting spot of Soviet movie-makers. Now the hotel belongs to a small group of friends that has spotted an empty run-down building and revived it with artistic energy.Idea of making restaurant Aleks comes from the simple desire to enjoy Riga of the beginning of the previous century. Interior is made from the household items of those times, which gives the restaurant unique look. ... more   less
