I wish I had looked up on TripAdvisor before I booked a room for three nights at this hotel. I'm staying here right now and I'm writing to warn others who are still deciding of where to stay in Riga. Do not come here. It's supposed to be a four star hotel but I would give it no more than... More

Hotel is located in Riga old town opposite to National Opera. Hotel is huge in Riga scale, but most of it needs renovation. Views from the rooms are nice especially when your windows are towards old town. Rooms are clean. Breakfast is OK. If you need parking, the hotel has a contract with a EuroPark parking lot about 300 meters... More

We stayed at Hotel Riga for one night in the middle of September 2012. We saw National Opera House and gardens out of our window which was nice. However, room looked old, not really clean since after walking on the floor barefooted you had to wash your feet. Bathrooms also didn't look nice - everything old. We woke up in... More

My wife a disabled friend and I stayed here 8th-10th September 2012, we arrived about 1pm but were not allowed to book in until 3pm as they said the hotel was very busy and the rooms weren't ready. We were allowed to leave our luggage in a secure room whilst we did what we wanted to do. When we did... More

During the days of Soviet occupation of Latvia this was probably the grandest hotel in the City. It has those drab, wide, classic Russian design corridors, rather basic--or fundamental--rooms and the grandness of a lobby that would have been attrasctive in the 1950's. It is NOT air conditioned as we discovered on a few hot August days. Yet, it has... More

We stayed at Hotel Riga for three nights on from 16th August. We had a room on the 5th floor overlooking The National Opera House and the beautiful floral gardens. We could see all the roof tops over the city. But we noticed that they had started to put up scafolding over the pretty floral carpeted lawn. The noise started... More

Hotel Riga is cheap, although very average and behind the times. Although it must have been quite something decades ago, now its pretty rundown. The staff were all helpful enough, and the breakfast adequate (as is included in the price). Room anemities fall short of any modern chain hotel, barely maintained wifi throughout my stay (although free too), and there's... More

At first sight, this is a hotel on a grand scale and this is not diminished on enterint the hotel where there is a charming lobby bar. Check-in was hassle-free. My room was on the top floor (6th) and afforded a fantastic panoramic view with the National Opera House to the left and the Freedom Monument and the "onions" of... More

When arriving at 9 we couldn't check in and had to wait for 15 minutes. There was no explanation why and the reception service was one of, the less talking-smiling-interacting, the better. The room was extremely hot, even though we kept the window open the whole day and night. Lots of noise in the streets and since the heat was... More

Was probably a 4 star in its day? Great location, opposite the National Opera House. I stayed for 2 nights on business and had to park my hire car, 5 mins from the hotel, for which they charge you a discounted rate of 10 lats (£11.75) per 24 hours. Don’t expect anything modern as this has not been touched since... More

“I tried three rooms and they were all smelly and old looking. I don't know if there are any good rooms in this hotel. Maybe the best thing to do is to ask to look at each one of them before going in.”
