The beach at Cape Santa Maria is truly one of the most beautiful I have seen anywhere. The water is crystal clear and sand is like white powder it is so fine. Our two bedroom villa was gorgeous and having a screened in porch to sit out at night or early in the morning was wonderful. If you are seeking a peaceful, relaxing getaway with luxury accomodations and good food, this is ideal.

This place was a dream come true - quiet, achingly beautiful, and a secret gem among other resorts. We would love to come back as soon as possible! We loved the secluded nature of this resort. It was rare to see more than 10-15 people on the beach or in the water at any given time, and plenty of hours when we had the beach to ourselves. Activities like kayaking, snorkeling, paddleboarding, and biking were free, with complimentary rental of helmets, paddles, life vests, and snorkel masks/fins. There were other tours and activities available for a fee. What you can't see from the photos is the excellent snorkeling available and the unparalleled glimpse you'll get of the Milky Way each night. I count both experiences among the best of my life. Our villa was spacious, comfortable, and everything (from furnishings to fixtures) looked like new. We enjoyed cooking in our villa kitchen, making our own frosty beverages, and watching Netflix/Amazon Prime Video each night. The resort makes their own drinking water, and there are small markets and cafes on the island if you want to eat in your villa/bungalow or away from the resort. While we were there, many fish/seafood dishes on the menu were not available, but this is typical on islands that depend on local catches and imported goods. Every dish we enjoyed was delicious and well-made. For those who are prone to mosquito bites (early in the morning and sunset/night), the resort provides insect repellent.

The Bahamas is the perfect COVID vacation spot. The Bahamas is more advanced than most any country regarding reducing Covid transmission. You need a negative covid test within 5 day of arrival and a negative test on the island after 5 days. A Bahamas health visa is also required before arrival and is easy to obtain online. The $60 visa provides health insurance should it be required. Cape Santa Maria resort has one of the most gorgeous beaches in the Caribbean. The resort with its spacious beaches keep you secluded from others. The 2-bedroom Villas at the resort are very high end and allow separation from other guests. The resort's dining room is an open air room with more than adequate separation from others. The Cape Santa Maria resort is, in my opinion, the perfect and safe resort during Covid. It is located on Long Island in The Bahamas. There have been no COVID cases on Long Island for more than 3 months. IF you are fed up with COIVD and are looking for a place to escape, I recommend Cape Santa Maria on Long Island in The Bahamas.

This was our second trip to Long Island but our first time staying at the Cape. We stayed a week in a two bedroom villa and loved every minute! The villa was lovely, comfortable, well equipped and spotless. The setting is spectacular - has to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The water is clear and calm almost every day as it’s in the lee of the prevailing winds. In the winter I can imagine occasional rough conditions with cold fronts bringing heavy winds to that side of the island, but on those days you can enjoy the Atlantic side beaches. The food and drinks at the restaurant were delicious and the service was pretty good even though they were slammed with Father’s Day weekend guests. The resort was full but it still felt secluded. Paddle boards were always available right on the beach. If you are a swimmer, you can do an open water swim in safe, calm, clear water every day. Matt and the staff are proud of the property and the Island and go above and beyond to help you enjoy every aspect. Take a boat trip, snorkel trip or fishing trip and see this amazing Island by water. We went for a boat/snorkel tour of the north end and it was amazing. The elderly resort cat, “Killer” stays in the background and minds his own business but if you love cats, he is the sweetest, most loving old guy you’ll ever meet. For us a rental car is a must because we like to explore, but you could spend your entire trip at the resort and be happy. Bring a little Bluetooth speaker for your room/villa to play your own music. There was no sound system in our villa except for a TV. Another good idea is to bring a couple ‘leave behind’ blow up floaties because you’ll want to float around in that gorgeous turquoise water all day. Keep in mind that it’s a more remote area in the Bahamas so you might not get everything you want all the time but it doesn’t detract from the experience. We will definitely return!

Cape Santa Maria Beach Resort is a perfect match for our family. Something to do for all of us, yet relaxing enough to truly break from the busyness of life. This year our four children, ages 9, 12,15, 18 and our 80 year old grandmother/mother enjoyed the pristine sands and turquoise colors that are Cape Santa Maria. We stayed in a villa with two bedrooms, full kitchen and living area in the Villas. No pool at the resort, but not needed. The beach is perfect white, cool sand, plenty of water activities from standup paddle boards, kayaks and sailing. Fishing and Snorkeling excursions. Above all there is a enough to do and you do not feel pressured to fit more in. A beautiful balance between relaxation and activity for a broad spectrum of ages.

One of our most memorable vacations - what a special place. Cape Santa Maria is located directly on the nicest beach we have ever seen. The area looks like a postcard. The water in the bay is calm, and the sand is like clay. Long Island is a beautiful place overall, and the people are extraordinarily welcoming at the resort and throughout the island. The villas at the resort are modern and impeccably maintained. Fast internet and every amenity in all rooms, which are located on this spectacular beach. It's very laid back. The fishing is off the charts, and the resort will cook your catch for dinner. You can sail, kayak, paddle board, fish, and enjoy the perfect weather. It is very carefree. We let our children run around freely. Matt and Kathleen are the general managers, and they are incredibly nice people. Matt is an avid runner and can recommend tons of trails if you are so inclined. There is a warm and family-like vibe within their team and among the guests, which is makes the stay special. On the island we highly recommend Max's Conch Bar, Dean's Blue Hole, Rodney's Sunset Restaurant, the shrimp hole, the marinas, and generally exploring by car or bicycle. The restaurant at CSM is excellent, and there are two reasonably well stocked supermarkets on the island if you prefer to shop. Our whole family loved our stay at CSM, and we can't wait to come back.

Great location, perfect beach, friendly staff, great food. The best part was it never felt crowded and the location is not commercialized like so many resorts. If you prefer a low keyed quiet vacation where you can enjoy blue water, soft white sand, good food and friendly staff this is it. The downside, if there is one, there are not many other restaurants close by to try at night and night life is non-existent. (Except bar on premises)

We were looking for a quiet, relaxing, and peaceful place to spend our honeymoon and stumbled upon Cape Santa Maria Beach Resort. It was everything we imagined. Our bungalow was located just steps away from beautiful turquoise water and white sandy shores. The temperature was nearly perfect (March) and it seemed a slight breeze was always blowing. Much of the time here we felt secluded and like the entire beach was ours for much of our stay. The accommodations were simple, relaxing, and cozy.

If you're not much for lounging around on the beach all day there are plenty of things to do on the resort itself like paddle boarding, snorkeling, scuba, kayak, fishing, or biking. Some of these things are provided free of charge by the resort. You can also rent a car and explore the island itself, there is plenty to see. We enjoyed the Blue Hole and the local cave systems, but I'm sure there is much more that we did not get to during the week we were here.

The locals which deem themselves "natives" are some of the nicest people around. They have a very warm and helpful nature and we always felt at ease around them. It's as if the whole island is this way actually, theres a sense of peace that permeates everything.

Lastly, the food at the resort was actually quote good. In the mornings I found myself often having a banana bread french toast with plantains that was incredible. For lunch and dinner I found myself enjoying jerk chicken as well as locally fresh caught fish. For dessert there was an orange key lime pie that we just couldn't get enough of.

Overall, this place was fantastic and it will always remain a special part of our honeymoon. Long Island in the Bahamas and Cape Santa Maria Beach Resort are truly one of the best kept secrets around.

We celebrated our 20th anniversary here and it was better than we ever imagined. First off let me say that Matt and Kathleen are the best and make you feel like you are welcome from the moment you arrive. If you can reserve a villa its definitely worth it. The villas are well appointed with anything and everything you could need. Clean, spacious and steps from the sand and water. The food in the restaurant is great for such a remote location. The menu is adequate with something for everyone. They definitely have some folks that know how to cook. The Lobster and Shrimp fettuccine is fantastic. The homemade key lime pie was the best I've ever had. If you are going to eat 3 meals a day then opt for the meal plan. Its a great value. Activities are plentiful with kayaks, fishing, bicycles ect. We rode bicycles to the Columbus monument one day. The 7 mile round trip is not for the faint of heart but its definitely achievable. The views at the monument are worth the effort to get there. You can also rent a car from the resort but we were feeling adventurous. Its ranked as one of the most romantic beach resorts and I would say its true. When you are there you forget about whats going on in the world and can truly relax. You can be as connected as you want to be with satellite TV and WIFI service but its easy to turn it all off and get off the grid for a short while. The Cape is on our return list and we'll be back every chance we get.
One rule of caution... Ladies pack your Skin So Soft for the sand gnats. They bite some people and completely leave others alone. My Wife was bitten quite a bit but I was not. Once she applied SSS they stopped biting her.

We’ve just returned from CSM beach resort where we spent 2 weeks of our hols. Our accommodation was in a beautiful villa equipped with all amenities. All the resort units are oceanfront with an amazing landscape of water and sky coming together to form the horizon. The beach is spectacular, never crowded, I’d rather say it’s one of the best I’ve ever seen in the Caribbean with an incredibly white fine sand. The water is crystal clear and vibrant with all its stunning shades of blue turning from turquoise to teal. Matt, the resort manager, is so kind and friendly, he really bent over backwards to make our vacation a unique experience. At the restaurant one can choice full or half board or à la carte. I’d suggest to implement the all inclusive formula so the guests would not need to worry about what is included or not in the meal plans. The food is generally good quality though the menù choice is too repetitive somewhat monotonous. Overall, the only weakest points we noticed are that the decor of some units is a little dated and would require some refurbishment; some of the resort staff members at the front desk seem too lazy and not willing to assist. The cleanliness standard in the accommodations is also very poor, at least it was so in our villa where the housekeeping staff just made the bed and emptied the garbage… to the extent that we started cleaning by ourselves to remove the dust from the furniture. Anyhow, aside from these negative aspects, our overall feedback is more than positive. The CSM beach resort is a pearl lying in the middle of a natural paradise. We’ll treasure the special moments we lived there… until next time!

Is there a local grocery to buy beer and snacks?
Answer from kpaiger2022
Penfield, New York1 contribution1 helpful vote
The gift shop has some snacks and you can get beer, etc to go from the bar. There is a local store but it’s very, very small and is not open all the time. If you’re taking the cab from the airport you could ask to stop. They are super accommodating at the resort and I’m sure they will help you with anything you need!

Yes there is internet, and no it is not All-inclusive, but there are meals at the resort and they are usually very good. Also, if you catch fish, the resort will clean and prepare the fish for your meal.

No pool necessary with the most spectacular stretch of white, sandy beach at your doorstep. There is no seaweed, rocks or shells - OR CHLORINE - to contend with. Just the most spectacular infinity pool in the Bahamas. Pristine!
