We were met by the very friendly Debra. Our room was lovely and very comfortable. Always nice to have a lounge to sit on to watch TV instead of the bed. I suffer from back pain and the shower was the BEST on our trip. The relatively new owner was also a pleasure and was so helpful with road condition...

Great place to stay. Lovely view of the harbour and very close to the village. The owners were lovely. Loved the underfloor heating in the bathroom too! We had originally booked for a couple of weeks before but unfortunately my partner for the flu. They were very accommodating and helpful about postponing our stay.

Destination Akaroa was a last minute addition to our itinerary on the recommendation of a friend. We are so glad we stayed. Akaroa as a destination deserves more that a day. Sightseeing in and around Akaroa is plentiful and all the people we came into contact with were brilliant. The Criterion is well located and in very good condition. The...

We only stayed here one night on a recent trip to New Zealand .Clean, large room and bathroom. Manager very helpful. Good location in Akaroa-walking distance to restaurants and attractions. We were on the first floor and had a reasonable view of the harbour from the balcony, although I imagine the second floor would give much better views. The only...

Great location and a terrific view (from second level suite). Booking and checkin was friendly and seemless. Spacious and comfortable room, well appointed with lounge and kitchenette facilities. Shower and toilet of equal high standard. Comfortable bed with nice linen. Would highly recommend this motel for either a short or long break.

I did not spend enough time looking for a place to stay in Akaroa and just booked this place based on a quick look at the reviews. It is adequate. It needs renovating, but is clean and does offer a nice view if you are on the second or third floor. The host was helpful and efficient. I got the...

Really solid place with friendly people. Nice room and warm with comfy bed and decent bathroom with nice view. TV on the smallish side but for a night not a biggy. You get tea and coffee with fresh milk which is nice. There is parking which is great. Need to get level 1 as otherwise will be a few stairs...

Thanks for taking the time to write this review. I hope you enjoyed your time in Akaroa. Refurbishing a motel is a continuing process and as each room is worked on the TV's in the room are being replaced. Most people don't mind a few steps to have gorgeous views and the views on the 2nd level are certainly worth...

Wonderful, friendly service and went out of the way to offer us a good deal due to my wife being on crutches. Had a large, comfortable, sunny room with an amazing view of Akaroa harbour. Would happily visit again!
