We stayed here for one night passing through from Wellington to Christchurch and how we wish we'd been able to stay a little longer! We loved the facilities and felt well looked after. We visited Bayview in the winter and there weren't many people about, which suited us just fine. But I imagine in the summer there would be much...

I've been to New Zealand several times and the relaxing atmosphere at Bayview is great. The views are outstanding and the rooms are clean and cozy. Daily fresh bread and walking distance to a great swimming beach. The host is very hospitable and does a great job keeping you entertained and informed of endless activities. Scuba, fishing, bike riding, tramping,...

My third stay here and many more to come. Exceptional Hostess with the cleanest friendliest Backpackers I have stayed in yet. Traveled with a sports team in 2009 and the hostel was superb, full amenities with a very engaging hostess. Stephanie is a true gem who made our stay perfect and allowed us to use the bikes and kayaks free...

Stephanie is a great host & very helpful. This a large two-story house with 11 rooms. If stairs are a problem be sure to advise beforehand. We were 4 women in the large, upstairs front bedroom, en suite. There is a large great room & kitchen upstairs with a wonderful view of the marina.

A backpackers hostel, about 3Km outside Picton, along the Waikawa (east coastal) Road. We telephoned the owner from the town's I_Site on arrival and she came out to collect us immediately, at no charge. The hostel is 2 storey, in its own grounds and overlooks Marlborough Sound in a quiet location. Our room was a double with a fully-equipped en-suite...

Stayed in Picton and loved it - so far Picton is my favourite place in NZ, but I still have a long way to go. Bayview is a special little place and I would recommend to all my backpacking friends.

Went to Bayview based on the ratings here, and indeed the stay was pleasant (I was the only person staying there). Steph was very helpful with making recommendations for things to do. After doing the Queen Charlotte Track I tried out Tombstone Backpackers instead based on Lonely Planet's advice and the BBH ratings, and it was definitely more to my...
