Originally built in the 1930's Top of the Town has been lovingly renovated to a very high standard. It has a very spacious garden with ample off-street parking for boats and cars. The rooms are beautifully decorated and include TVs, fridges, microwaves, tea and coffee, bathrobes, irons and ironing board. There is ample outdoor patio spaces for guests to enjoy with room 4 having its own secure outdoor patio ideal for dogs. Tracee and Bryan are the owners of the property and live on-site with their dog and two cats. Tracee manages the property and looks forward to meeting you and making your stay at Top of the Town an enjoyable one. The property was being run as a B and B with an offsite manager. They have changed this to 3 boutique hotel-style rooms. The hotel is also pet-friendly. Originally from Auckland, they moved to what they call their paradise in May 2019 after purchasing Top of the Town and are enjoying living in Piction immensely.

What can we say about Top of The Town without sounding like Tracee paid us to say it?! (We promise.. she didn’t) We first stayed back in June. We’re only from Nelson and we just wanted to get away for a weekend break with our gorgeous wee dog. Top of The Town popped up as accepting pets so we immediately made a booking.. We will never bother to venture anywhere else accomodation wise when coming over to Picton - we’re both so chuffed with this place. We just stayed again in October. We hadn’t made any plans for the long weekend - we’d saved Tracee’s number in our phone from our last trip, called her up and she remembered us immediately - “I’ve got room, get yourselves over! Lovely to hear from you both, come over anytime just flick me a text when you’re near! See you soon!” - it’s like popping over to your Aunty’s house to hang out for the weekend. The best sleep we’ve had in months - 10/10 for the bed comfort and linen to die for Amazing shower pressure Real good quality towels Cleanliness unfaultable (is that a word? basically the room looks like it’s been cleaned inch by inch by ‘Our Trace’ with a toothbrush) Long story short - whether you have a pooch or not, this place is a great safe choice for quality accommodation at an extremely affordable price. I promise you, you will not find anything wrong with Top of The Town and they are a gorgeous couple that really make you feel welcome. We love having Tracee’s number saved in our phone - now whenever we have a free weekend with no plans, we know we can just give her a ring and pop over for a couple of nights - knowing our dog is 1000% welcome and knowing how lovely their place is, it’s just so convenient. Thanks for having us again! We’ll be back in Summer! (If not before) Emma, Amanaki & Māui

This is the most excellent pet friendly stay ever experienced. Our large puppy was fully accommodated and treated like a member of the family, as were we. Lovely, big garden for him to run around in. Tracee and Brian were absolutely amazing - warm and friendly. The rooms we stayed in were warm and comfortable, and the beds too. Very impressed. I highly recommend this establishment!

How lucky were we to find this delightful place and meet Tracee and Bryan. They are obviously meant to be in the hospitality industry as they were such perfect hosts. Tracee’s main focus is to ensure your needs are met and she really cares that the guests experience the very best stay. The set up of the accommodation is perfect as the guest area is separate and you have complete privacy. Our sunny room was spacious, came with a fridge, microwave and a lovely ensuite. Totally private and totally comfortable and so clean and immaculate. The towels were lovely, linen was lovely, you notice that everything is such good quality. The accommodation is surrounded by a huge garden and if you sat at the front you overlook the town and there is also a lovely private spacious back garden. Now even though we didn’t have a dog with us, it was great to discover they are pet friendly....what a great idea! Someone was checking in with a cat and Tracee was going above and beyond to ensure that their cat was going to be comfortable. Location was perfect as you can ditch your car and walk into town, to the shops, cafes, restaurants and the waterfront. We really enjoyed our stay very much, so top marks to Top of the Town.
