The Gateway is a comfortable, well-maintained property, and so convenient being located in the main street of Picton. Despite it's central location our room was quiet and a good night's sleep enjoyed.

We found this motel to be perfectly fine and the location excellent. Sure, it's a little dated and tired but it was clean and the service was excellent. Recommended for a stopover place. Shuttle service for the ferries is a nice touch.

We arriving with a group - (booked to do the Queen Charlotte Sound walk) on Sunday 2nd October. We will be coming over on the ferry from Wellington & arrive Picton 12.30pm.
Will there be any supermarkets open in Picton on a Sunday afternoon?? We need to collect a few supplies before we start the walk. Thanks

There is a FourSquare grocery store within walking distance of most accommodation, open 7 days has just about everything and nice fruit&vege with different specials each week.
