The Gatewat Motel is an excellent place for accommodation, it's handy to all shopping facilities, dining facilities, and is well within walking distance of all that the picturesque boat basin offers. The rooms are well presented, clean and well catered for. We have stayed a number of times at tha Gateway and by price and facilities believe the none better...

Just stayed the one night but will stay again when we get to return to Picton. The motel is in the middle of the main street which although active at night wasn't noisy. A good choice of eateries on the doorstep including one that offers discount to guests. Excellent service from Kent and his staff. Not only did he manage...

Stayed here one night after train up from Christchurch. Rooms are quite nice. Bed lights were not working above the beds for reading and we found out later they will be re-modeling this Winter, but in any case if they are still there, they should have been working. One thing that did bother me was there wasn't a small trash...

We only stayed one night as we were passing through, but wished we could have stayed longer. The location is perfect, the hosts super friendly and helpful as were the cleaning staff. We got a great deal at a restaurant because of where we were staying, so that was an added bonus. We will definately be back, thank you

Helpful, friendly staff/owners some free wifi (although it didn't work too well upstairs) what more could you want!? Perfect spot to go out for dinner also- highly recommend!

Clean. Safe. Secure. Parking. WIFI. Central. Friendly staff. Bed not the comfiest. Walls quite thin so hear next doors door tapping most of the night. Fridge is loud in the room stopping you from sleeping. Good shower. Spacious rooms.

The hosts are very very friendly. The room is clean and spacious. My family enjoyed it very much. The hostess told me that she would learn some Chinese to cope those Chinese tourists, which is very encouraging to me. Nick from the Chinese Consulate in Chch

Whilst the rooms are a bit dated, they are very comfortable. The television is modern, the beds comfortable and the kitchenette well equipped. The shower had great pressure, the room was quiet and we got a great sleep. It is well located and an easy walk to many restaurant choices. The owner was extremely friendly and very keen to assure...
