The Hotel Arcata is the best place to stay on the Northern California coast. Book well in advance because they fill up, but there's good reason why. The service is always top notch. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfy. This hotel has character.

We read the reviews before arriving and arrived apprehensive. We were right to be nervous. The plus points were that the towels were lovely, clean and fresh. The lady at check out was very cheery and pleasant. The hotel is well located in the town centre. I'm afraid that's all that I can say positively. The room and hall carpets...

We started our road trip with the Hotel Arcata and it was a wonderful place to kick it off! Arcata itself is really cute, and this hotel made the vibe of the stay even better! Great old school feel- very vintage feeling! Enjoyed the ball and claw bath tub! We went with the 2 room suite, it was on the...

They put us in a smoking room so that made it worse but this place was nasty! The beds are so old it's like sleeping on hammock with mushy pillows. It stinks like the carpets are really old and nothing has been really cleaned out of them in the last 20 years. The lobby is nice. The guy working there-not...

If you just need a place to sleep, and you dont mind the smell in the room and noise from next door, ok to stay overnight. Building is from 1915, listed as a "historic place". Probably that is why they dont touch the carpets and hence the heavy smell. Sheets and bathroom are clean, staff is helpful.

My sister and I were visiting family and just needed a cheap place to crash. The hotel has a lot of charm and is close to some cool restaurants and shopping. The street noise woke my sister, but I sleep pretty soundly. We didn't eat at the sushi restaurant off the lobby, but we heard it was excellent.

This hotel is what it is, an old hotel in a small town. It could use lots of upgrading. Since the carpeting, fixtures and linens are old, it makes it hard to tell if it was clean or not. I guess It was fine for one night.

We may have stayed during college-move-in time, so we experienced a lot of loud partying going on in other rooms both nights, and several hours of drug-induced drama/crisis going on just outside our window the last night. The hotel itself is centrally located with great shopping and coffee (Brio) on the plaza and nearby within walking distance. Parking is on...

I loved this hotel. I enjoyed being in the center of town. We were able to walk to dinner, drinks, and the farmers market in the morning. The hotel feels like you are walking into the early 1900's. I loved the pictures on the walls, the old staircase, the architecture. Our room was quirky, it was a business suite-2 small...

It is what it is, an old hotel in a small town. My daughter and I visited Humboldt State University the first week of June and stayed at the Hotel Arcata. It's in a great location, right on the square in Arcata. Close to HSU and all the beautiful state parks full of coastal redwoods and breathtaking views. There's no...
