Stayed at the Phoenix in January with our 3 young children (6,4,2). Being our first time taking our children out of the country, I cannot tell you the amount of research that was done prior to choosing the Phoenix (spoiler: an embarrassing amount). If you’re like me, just stop your research right here and book it. You won’t be disappointed. Some of the highlights:
Staff and communication: Every communication we had with Phoenix staff was unbelievably efficient. Pre-trip communication was handled within hours of my emailing. On-site, we received responses and assistance within minutes, whether that be a simple request like aloe or an offbeat request like opening a coconut our children found on the beach. And all handled by the most polite and courteous staff. I think the size of the Phoenix really lends itself to such superb service - everyone works together seamlessly.
Resort location and grounds: I was worried the location could be noisy due to its location in San Pedro (one of my main hesitations), but that was not the case at all. When you’re on property grounds, it feels like you’re a world away from the bustle of San Pedro. The location can’t be beat, as it’s an easy walk to amazing restaurants, town center, the dive shops, etc. No golf cart required. The grounds itself are beautifully maintained and our kids loved pool hopping each day. Although there’s no true beach, it was an easy walk to the town beach, which we really enjoyed. We also had many delicious meals at the on-site restaurant, which was convenient after a long day of adventures.
Rooms: Massive! The balcony alone was larger than a hotel room. We booked a two bedroom suite and it was more than enough space for our family of 5. Everything was very clean, and we had everything we needed to be comfortable and feel at home. We had beautiful views of the ocean from our balcony and enjoyed sitting out with a book and watching the sun rise in the mornings.
Kids Club (Nest): Cindy and the Kids Club require their own shout-out from our family. Cindy was an absolute gem and really made the vacation for our kids. Our oldest two popped into the Kids Club for a bit each day and Cindy engaged them with endless activities - art, bracelet making, face painting, karaoke…you name it, Mrs. Cindy does it. She even worked with our older 2 girls to make decorations and a surprise party for our youngest, who turned 2 on the trip. She went above and beyond for our family and our girls miss her!
Overall, a solid 5/5 stay. We worried whether our trip would feel relaxing with our small kids in tow, but it felt smoother than many of our domestic trips. If we travel to Belize again, we will be back. Thanks to all the amazing Phoenix staff for a fantastic trip!

This place! The staff is absolutely amazing! They anticipate your everyone need before you are even aware you have one. The in-house restaurant and bars are great. The Phoenix doesn't have a traditional beach, which I thought I would miss, but their pool area and location on the island are wonderful. You can rent a golf cart for the duration of your stay (a great experience!) but you are close enough to walk downtown. Ecologic Divers is steps away. Restaurants as well. They do not have elevators, but walking up to our third floor ocean front two bedroom condo was not a problem. There are washers/dryers/laundry soap/full kitchens/USB plugs/cable TV/Bose Bluetooth speakers/games/books/robes/slippers in the units. We didn't miss a thing. We do not usually return to the same place twice, but this is our second trip and we will continue to come here annually. We came with family and friends and loved every minute.

The Phoenix is the perfect place to stay on Ambergris caye, perfect location for walking around town, walking down the beach, great bars and restaurants within walking distance. We worried whether we should stay downtown or out at a resort on the beach but a long way from town. We made the right call, much easier to get in your golf cart and drive around to the beach - rather than needing to drive into town each night for dinner.
We stayed in a beachfront villa, beautiful. But what makes this place so perfect is the staff, so kind, friendly and helpful. They send us an email a week before our visit with recommendations on what to do, where to eat, etc. A couple emails and one phone call and our entire week was planned, fishing trips, golf cart rental and a dinner reservation for every night we were there. Everything they suggested was great and I would not change a thing.

We have been going to The Phoenix Resort for eight years. We have checked out other properties on the island, but nothing compares. In all of these years, the staff has not changed. Everyone is friendly, efficient, helpful and kind. They treat us like family, and we feel like they are family. That alone says a lot about the resort.
The property itself is gorgeous - it looks just like the beautiful online photos. The rooms/condos are spacious and well maintained, and include a full living area, kitchen, large bedroom and large bathroom. There are two pools with a fun beach bar only for guests of The Phoenix. Our favorite dive shop, Amigos Del Mar, is a two minute walk from the resort. Even though the resort is in the center of San Pedro town and is convenient to all of the restaurants and bars, the resort itself is peaceful. The restaurant at the resort, Red Ginger, is excellent and you can enjoy their food in the restaurant or at the pool. The Phoenix also has a daily happy hour for guests and we have met a lot of friendly people at the happy hours.
We love The Phoenix Resort and would highly recommended it for couples or families. We are already booked for two more trips.

This was our second visit to the Phoenix. In my opinion, the staff is what makes The Phoenix exceptional. They are accommodating, approachable, and knowledgable. Worth mentioning, they make a killer blended mojito. The resort pools are beautiful and the gardens are very well maintained. The resort is in walking distance to most restaurants and grocery stores on the island. We recommend doing a massage at the spa, a snorkeling excursion, and using the resort's bikes to explore the island. There were local/national restrictions in place due to COVID-19, but this did not dampen our experience. We felt safe with frequent cleaning, regular mask wearing, and social distancing all being followed at the Phoenix. We can't wait to go back.

A group of girlfriends stayed in a 3 bed / 3 bath oceanview unit in late January 2020. From start to finish, it was perfection. The email communications prior to the trip and customer service were unmatched. They coordinated our hopper flights, dinner reservations, had champagne flutes and ice buckets ready for us upon arrival along with a snack tray we’d ordered. They surprised us with a birthday cake and had a lovely birthday welcome message for us in bedroom with rose petals. The unit itself was perfect for our group - we could not have asked for anything more. The grounds were immaculate and every person we encountered was warm and friendly. We’ve traveled quite a bit, but I must say that this resort holds a special place in my heart. Would highly recommend and certainly would stay here if back to San Pedro!

My daughter and I stayed here right before the Covid pandemic surfaced and I'm so glad we did! Everything about this place is 5 stars from the grounds the resort sits on, the magnificent views, the staff hospitality, and the cleanliness of the rooms. We were surprised upon arrival that there was a cancellation of a direct ocean view room and they offered it to us at no extra charge. It was absolutely gorgeous and I'd now request that same room upon my return and hopefully that will be sooner than later. Thank you to the Phoenix staff who made our trip a memorable one.

The Phoenix is one of the best things about San Pedro. I go 3-4 times a year and every time am so grateful to be there. The staff! They aren’t staff, they are family. The ladies at the front, Pamela, Tatiana and Gaby will go out of their way to make your vacation. They will take care of everything from stocking your fridge for arrival, booking your fishing trips with Eric (Knotty Pirate) making dinner reservations and more. They are the epitome of hospitable. The pool/bartending staff- Ricky, Rolo and Rony always have a smile, make fantastic cocktails and are eager to help your poolside day a fun one. Worried about Covid? Don’t! The Phoenix is gold star certified and always has been in my eyes. They are making your trip the safe escape so many of us need during these times and will arrange your test to get back into the states. It’s so easy and should not be a concern when traveling to the Phoenix or San Pedro. The location of the Phoenix is phenomenal. One of the fun things about San Pedro is cruising in the golf cart yet it’s certainly optional with this prime location walking distance to most everything! And the rooms are wonderful. I have stayed in almost every ground floor unit and am never disappointed. I am typically traveling with friends and always feel safe! The security team is waiting no matter the hour I get “home” to ensure that I get in my condo safely. I love, love, love this hotel and cannot recommend it enough. Take that postcard vacation you’ve been dreaming of. You won’t regret it!

Loved, loved, loved the Phoenix. I was there in the of season (July) The front desk staff are amazing and take great care of you. We never ate at the onsite restaurant because there are many great eating options within walking distance. You can rent golf carts directly from them, they're a little more expensive than the local places, but they include your gas and tolls. They booked an excursion on the mainland for us and called the tour guide to make sure we had made it. The suites are beautiful, clean, and well appointed. The cleaning staff paid great attention. They washed dishes, even emptied the dishwasher when we ran it ourselves. The pool bar closes early, I guess because it was the off season, but other than that, no complaints whatsoever. I highly recommend it!

I stayed at the Phoenix with my family in April of 2022 and had such a memorable experience. The staff at the front desk were SO helpful, thank you again to Pam, Gabriela, Tatiana and others who made our stay enjoyable before we even arrived! My parents are native to Belize and we hadn’t lodged at this property before, but would definitely return again and again! The quality of the stay was one to remember. The cleanliness and care of the property is evident in their rounds throughout the day, inside the rooms as well as the entire exterior. If you’re considering this property, it is definitely well worth every penny as they will make sure you do as little or as much as you want with excursions, reservations, etc.

No adult pool. I was there Feb 8-12, 2020 and I did not see any children. I found the resort very relaxing and myself and my 8 other friends had a great, adult, vacation.
Tip: Make sure to visit Secret Beach while you are there!
There are more places to choose from in the San Pedro area.
