I couldn't resist the opportunity to return to the fabulous El Pescador Resort with Steve Hollenshed and the Dallas Orvis group. This time, I came with more tackle, less sets of clothing, more cameras, and the love of my life, Tammy Sue. If anything, the experience was more rewarding than last year. The lobster was more lobster-y, the Belkin was... More

This was our second visit with the entire family -- and we were treated like part of the El Pescador family. Everyone at this place is just wonderful and we could not have had a better experience. Food, people, location -- all top notch. We look forward to returning next year!

El Pescador offered one of the best vacation experience in our travels. The staff was outstanding in the areas most important to us- welcoming, accomodating to our needs, and courtesy. The grounds, on the beach, were beautiful, spotlessly clean, and comfortable. The room was big and very tastefully decorated with a comfortable bed. The food was outrageously delicious, the perfect... More

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at El Pescador. Rooms were nice, food was great and the staff was courteous and friendly. My wife and daughter loved snorkeling, the Mayan ruins and cave rafting. It is also an ideal spot for fly fishing fanatics with terrific guides. Make sure to take advantage of the casting lessons on the... More

The service, amenities, and joyful atmosphere are beyond compare. El Pescador is the most customer service centered resort I've ever visited. They go above and beyond to make your stay the most comfortable possible. I'm a repeat visitor (angler) and will continue to stay at El Pescador every chance I get. Cast me back!!!

Excellent accommodations and food. Best in Central America. Good fishing but could have had a better guide. Owner on site. Excellent diving I am told. Did not experience. Second largest barrier reef in the world. Probably one third of the guests were divers and two thirds fishermen. Very good Mayan sites in the vicinity.

El Pescador has always been a bucket list place to come fish. I had heard about it through Orvis and knew I had to make it down. Upon arriving, the detail that stood out to me the most was that everyone knew our names. Although that may not seem like much, it's the little things that matter and throughout my... More

I went to El Pescador fly fishing with my brother. The guides were spot on! Then relaxing at the resort afterwards was refreshing. The staff even makes an effort to learn each visitors name. Food was delicious and a wide variety including lobster, steak, pork chops and fish. Other activities include snorkeling, diving, canoeing, and sea kayaking.

This was my first trip to Belize and my first time to fly fish the flats. We had some tough weather conditions but we were still able to catch some really good fish!! The guides work really hard to find the fish!! The lodge and staff are absolutely 1st class. The food/drink/hospitality are outstanding. I met several guests that had... More

I've been to El Pescador several times now, and am always surprised by the quality of the staff. it truly feels like coming home — from Ali, the owner, to Marlin and Mariano and all the staff — it's a comfortable, homey atmosphere. Staff always goes above and beyond to remember names and make myself and my clients feel at... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
El Pescador’s beachfront lodge and villas are situated on over 45 private acres with ambiance, specializing in fishing, diving and eco-adventures. We are family-owned and operated with emphasis on creating camaraderie and an authentic Belizean experience. El Pescador is proud of our philosophy to protect and nurture friendship, adventure and the environment. El Pescador has long been known as a world-class fishing destination offering outstanding flats fishing for bonefish, tarpon and permit. El Pescador has been the only resort on Ambergris Caye specializing in saltwater flats fishing since 1974. Since coming under new ownership in 1997, the resort has established itself as an eco-friendly tropical getaway, including a commitment to offset all carbon emissions generated by its guests flying to Belize. Donations are made on behalf of guests to a local Belizean non-profit organization, Green Reef Environmental Educational and Coastal Research Institute, to offset the carbon emissions used to travel to Belize. El Pescador was also among the key organizations to implement the new Law protecting bonefish, tarpon and permit as catch and release species. This is the most all encompassing legislation of its kind worldwide. It is great news for Belizeans, anglers, tourists and conservationists alike. El Pescador is a serene and gracious establishment on the doorstep of the world’s largest living Barrier Reef. El Pescador offers accommodations in guest rooms within its colonial style, mahogany main lodge, as well as in 1, 2, and 3 bedroom luxury beachfront villas. The villas are perfect accommodations for couples seeking romance and privacy, and for families and small groups traveling together. All rooms and villas are beachfront and have unobstructed views of the Caribbean blue waters. In addition to unequaled fishing, this first-rate resort offers all the eco-adventures which take full advantage of Belize’s exotic flora and fauna. Scuba diving, snorkeling, manatee watching, cave-tubing and zip-lining, and Maya archaeological explorations are just a small assortment of the activities available while staying at El Pescador. ... more   less
