We stayed 8 nights in the Rainforest Suite (Honeymoon Suite) and had an intimate wedding and reception with 10 guests on the beach. I cannot say enough good things about this place.

The entire property is immaculately kept. Groundskeepers work all day, every day, to maintain this little piece of paradise.

We had family in casitas, staterooms, and Palmilla rooms. All were beautifully appointed. Housekeeping provided nightly turndown service where they left a porch light on, closed all the blinds in the room, and left lights on. They went above and beyond. It was not unusual to come back and find pool towels refreshed or water bottles restocked, in addition to the turn down.

The food in the restaurant was delicious. We ate every meal there at least once, including the continental breakfast and poolside snacks. Our wedding dinner and appetizers were served from the hotel restaurant and everyone raved about their food.

Service across the resort was the best we have experienced anywhere. Abi handled each and every detail of our wedding meticulously. Everything was perfect! A few of our favorites were Cesar and Julio in the bar, Ashley and Mishel in the dining room, and Antonio helped with a little bit of everything. Everyone was incredibly friendly and made you feel as though they genuinely wanted to help, including lobby and housekeeping staff. Donald with online reservations was also incredibly responsive and helpful throughout the booking process.

We cannot wait to return to celebrate an anniversary soon!

We had an absolutely incredible stay at this resort and couldn’t recommend it more! The grounds were meticulously maintained, and the whole property felt like a peaceful oasis. Every staff member we encountered went above and beyond, always greeting us by name and making us feel truly valued. They were so helpful in setting up reservations and offering great recommendations, making our stay stress-free and enjoyable.

The food was exceptional—each meal was flawless, and the drinks were just as impressive. I had the chance to visit the spa three times during our stay, and each treatment was perfection. It was such a relaxing experience every time. The resort also has a wonderful gym, which we made good use of.

The excursions we booked were fantastic, and Luis made everything so easy for us. Whether on the resort or out on an excursion, we felt like every person we interacted with went out of their way to ensure we had an amazing experience.

We stayed in a casita, which was perfect! The bed was incredibly comfortable, and housekeeping did a fantastic job of keeping it pristine both morning and night. The resort was never too crowded, which added to its charm. We always had no trouble finding a spot by the pool, and being able to swim in the ocean directly from the resort was a huge bonus.

We absolutely loved our stay here and will definitely be returning! Highly recommend!

My wife and I stayed here at Victoria House a month ago Aug 20-27 and absolutely loved it. The grounds are so beautiful, the staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful and our room was lovely. We walked along the shoreline and drove around most of Ambergris Caye and I'm pretty sure this is the nicest property on the island. We would definitely go back! One thing to consider however is that there are essentially no beaches on the island except for the beaches held in place by a retaining wall. Secret Beach up north is one exception we found so go check it out. The pictures on the Victoria House website are strategically taken to make the sand appear as if it goes right into the water but it doesn't exactly do that. The sand goes right to the water where there is a short retaining wall holding the sand back from washing away. But it's not too big of a deal and it's the best wide beach/sand area on the island. I'm gluten intolerant and there were numerous options at Victoria House as well as around the island and I ended up having ZERO problems which was such a relief. There were a couple delicious eateries within walking distance including Robin's Kitchen which is an experience in itself.

Hi steveand janita, Thanks for the great review, and your glowing references to the team members who make the whole guest experience possible. Our F&B department has a good deal of experience with dietary requirements and preferences, and I'm very happy to hear that they, once again, made your dinining experiences seamless. I can assure you that there was no intent to decieve or be clever when shooting photos on the beach - and appreciate your understanding of the need for such a structurre to prevent erosion. Secret beach is an increasingly popular day trip vacation, and I'm pleased to hear that you enjoyed it. Robins Kitchen is one of my favorite spots on the island, not just for the delicious Jamacan food, but for the good people that own and operated it. Hope to see you again soon.

The property was very well maintained and not
Crowded at all which we loved. Now the disappointments:

When we originally booked they released our room before the end of the hold time and we had to book a different room category not realizing there was not any amenities in the room.

No coffee maker or microwaves in the villa king bedroom units.
There is no way to heat up any meals that you bring back from an offsite restaurant.
There is two restaurants on property but they have the same limited menu.
If you want coffee after 10:30 they will charge you about $5 USD.
On the whole they did not want to accommodate any special requests.
Be sure to bring plenty of bug spray. The mosquitos are bad.
No USB ports provided in rooms so you need to bring chargers.

Hi Terri G Thanks for choosing Victoria House Resort & Spa as your third vacation destination in Belize.   We regret we didn’t meet and exceed the very high expectations you mentioned to our Front Desk staff person upon check in. Happily, this is a rare occurrence.  As did you, many guests have remarked that even when we’re full, as we were during your stay, the property retains a certain tranquility, particularly during the day when many people are out on excursions or exploring San Pedro. I’m happy that this was to your liking as well.  Having checked with our reservations office, we find that your agent booked the room type requested, and that we had no knowledge of any specific amenity needs or preferences. You did of course have amenities such as a mini refrigerator, room safe, beach basket and towels, WIFI, robes, hammocks, outdoor shower etc., but sadly not the type you apparently desired. Did you ask for a coffee maker to be sent to the room? We occasionally get requests for this sort of thing and are happy to oblige.  Many of our villas do indeed have the amenities mentioned in your review.  As you were informed by both a front desk staff person and a management team member when you requested a Styrofoam plate of food be heated up in the kitchen, for health and safety reasons we do not allow food purchased off property to be re-warmed in our kitchen.  Drip coffee is complimentary until 10:30 AM, espresso-based coffees have prices listed on the Breakfast Menu.  I’m sorry you found our menus to be limited when compared to your previous 2 resorts in Belize.  We have one restaurant – The Palmilla, and one beachside bar – The Admiral Nelson’s Bar, serviced by one kitchen. Guests can order from any of our menus at either location.   We offer 21 delicious options on our Breakfast Menu, another 41, including 6 desserts on the Lunch Menu, and 31, again including desserts, on the Dinner Menu. These menus, along with the Vegetarian Menu, Kids Menu, Cocktail List and Wine List are available for viewing on our web page.  We have an extensive, effective and ecologically friendly pest control program on site, but as stated, it is pest control, not pest elimination. There are times of the year when, despite valiant efforts on our part, we experience these unwanted guests from neighboring properties. OFF or the repellent of your choice is recommended and is available for sale at our gift shop for such occasions.  I understand that it’s inconvenient packing both charging cables and blocks when travelling, and at the request of recent guests, we will be installing them in guest rooms.  We hope that your next stay, wherever it may be, is a better fit for you.  Brent

We had an amazing 4 night stay at Victoria House! The grounds and property were gorgeous, and our room felt updated and comfortable.

The staff was INCREDIBLE and really made our stay. The front desk staff in particular were all so personable and helpful. We had to rebook our trip, and they were quick to respond and made a stressful situation much smoother. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool with cocktails and the lovely waitstaff made sure we never waited long for a drink!

We enjoyed the food at Palmilla, but the staff also had amazing recommendations for places to try in town. Renting a golf cart to go into town was easy, and the pricing was more reasonable than expected. We also really enjoyed our snorkeling half day trip. The staff was helpful when deciding which day and when to book based on weather conditions.

The property had all the amenities of a big resort while still feeling intimate and quiet. Victoria House was the perfect choice for our stay and we'd recommend it to anyone traveling to San Pedro!

By far one of the most wonderful resorts my partner and I stayed at. From the friendly taxi driver, Junior, who picked us up at the airport, to the warm and welcoming staff who greeted us when we arrived (special shout out to Curtis who showed us around). Our week-long getaway was off to a great start!

Not only is the property gorgeous, including the carefully maintained beach, pools and grounds but our room (palmetto suite) was really lovely. The housekeeping staff always did a fantastic job keeping it tidy and fresh without disrupting our space or things.

They and everyone else were so attentive to our needs!

The bar and restaurant on-site were wonderful. The island stumbler, coconut mojito and piña colada were our favorite cocktails to order, although, Tony the bartender makes a delicious pimms cup! Favorite bar bites: the coconut shrimp and tres amigos!

The restaurant and bar staff were all excellent. Duane waited on us our first night and was so kind despite our delirious state of tiredness. He gave us awesome recommendations for great food in and out of the resort. We were glad to take his advice. Favorite meals in-house: the poached lobster tail, the lobster Benedict, and the shrimp & green mango salad.

Ruben and Esteban were both equally wonderful servers and went above and beyond to make us comfortable during our stay. From talking with us at the bar to helping us with unusual requests, we felt really taken care of.

Everyone at the front desk was kind and helpful but Irayda was especially lovely. She helped me with my cuts after an overly enthusiastic snorkel excursion and gave us advice on how to navigate ourselves through town to our dock when we decided at the last minute to take a golf cart instead of the taxi the resort had carefully planned for us.

Speaking of excursions, Luis at the dive shop on the property was very helpful and efficient in helping us make plans for our various adventures during our stay. He patiently answered all our questions and quickly booked us when we made our decisions.

There are many others we had the pleasure to meet at Victoria house and all of them made us feel welcome. They helped us enjoy our stay and exemplified the kindness and generosity that all Belizean people seem to have.

Thank you Victoria House, hope to see you again soon!

Hi 491yasminaf, Thank you for the glowing review of your recent stay with us, and thanks especially to your shout outs to so many of our amazing team members. Our guest services manager posted your review on our in-house chat, to the delight of all. You got off to a good start being picked up by Junior - he's been working with us for many years, and he was one of the extras in Mosquito Coast, when he was considerably younger. Our F&B team, including the Kitchen, Restaurant and Bar genuinly enjoy working with visitors, and are eager to share stories and cultural information with new comers and repeat guests alike. I hope this review means you'll be one of those repeat guests. See you soon! Brent

The Victoria House exceeded all of our expectations! The staff and accommodations are top notch. We were a family of 5 adults and stayed in their 3 bedroom, 3 bath house - Casa Del Sol. It was spacious and clean and charming and on the beach. The restaurant served amazing meals from breakfasts with fresh fruits and home baked breads and pastries to wonderful lunches and dinners of local seafood. The Spa was fantastic. The pools and grounds were meticulously maintained. The Victoria House arranged all travel to and from Belize City Airport as well as all of the tours we took, including fly fishing, snorkeling, sunset catamaran sail and Mayan Ruin Tour. All of the guides and tours were absolutely amazing. The very professional staff at Victoria House did an amazing job at making us feel welcome and at home! They made sure that this was the most enjoyable vacation we have had and we will return over and over again.

I really wanted to love this hotel, but unfortunately I could not. They are not accommodating at all. I went on a full day excursion and was unable to make dinner reservations earlier in the day. I attempted to have dinner later that afternoon upon returning back to the hotel late in the afternoon; but was told there was no availability at the restaurant or the bar because I did not have a reservation. Mind you there where several seats and tables open. I then proceeded to ask the staff if we could be seated at a table that was located by the pool…and the response I received was “it’s dark over there” (no option was given to add a candle to the table for lighting, which appeared to be on all the tables that were outside). Then, I asked if I could wait for a table to become available and I was told “other ppl have reservations that have not showed up yet and we have to wait at least 20 mins”…..again at this time, I was not given the option to wait; to make a later reservation, or offered a table by the pool where they could have added a candle for lighting). After speaking to the front desk and the waiting staff; I was told to just order room service and the service fee would be waived….well once the food arrived, guess what…a service fee was definitely applied. On to the next day, dinner time approaches…and what do we see, more tables by the pool with lights hung all around for additional lighting. All I have to say, is I would not recommend this hotel; as they only appear to be accommodating if you have the right skin tone!!!!

And there are no phones in the room…you can only communicate with the front desk (for request) using WhatsApp. You have to call for ice, call for turn down service….

Hi Curious20359291452 We really want all of our guests to love our resort too, and I’m disappointed to hear that you didn’t. I can relate to your frustration at not being able to be seated right away for dinner, especially after having returned from a long and presumably enjoyable trip to the mainland. We request that our registered guests make dinner reservations to ensure that they’re able to dine at the desired time and to avoid disappointment. We were fully booked during your stay, and as happens at times, most of our in-house guests had reserved tables on the night in question. We also welcome non-registered guests for dinner and by law (pandemic health & safety-related) these guests must all have reservations, so despite appearances, we were fully booked until much later in the evening. As is customary, we do hold reserved tables for 20 minutes before making them available, The tables that are set on the restaurant deck do have candles, more for decoration than for illumination as there is electrical lighting on the deck. I apologize for options other than in room dining being offered to you and for the apparent miscommunication about the delivery fee. Our AGM, with whom you spoke, has no recollection of discussing this subject with you, but certainly would have waived the $2.50 delivery fee. We do not have telephones in our rooms, but do offer round-the-clock communication via WhatsApp or Vamoos, a handy little app that we encourage all our guests to make use of, not only for communication, but to view menus and upcoming events. Your comment about the level of service offered being dependent on the colour of one’s skin needs to be addressed. It is not only baseless, but blatantly disrespectful of the multiculturally diverse team at Victoria House Resort & Spa. I hope your next vacation doesn’t disappoint in any way. Brent

We went here to celebrate my 60th birthday🎈 last week ! it was the perfect spot because it was small, quaint and peaceful…the staff here is phenomenal ! They greet you as you walk by daily .Amy the bartender was so friendly. Made our drinks each day and night. We even gifted her an extra bottle of wine we couldn’t take home. Tony was our server on my birthday and brought a birthday dessert and sang to me. The front desk staff was so efficient- made several dinner reservations for us before we arrived. Highly recommend Purple Pelican !
Luis at the dive shop also was great. We went on a sunset sail, fishing trip and snorkeling trip. We had VH cook our fish and it was delicious! I’ve recommended VH to many friends. Not one complaint at all. Housekeeping (Jenny)does come 2x a day and we asked her to come @lunch instead of 9 AM. Mitch was great too. Picked us up at airport and recommended some lunch places. Great ceviche at VH. I miss this place already. It was warming up when we left. We had a nice breeze the first few days. We stayed in a 3BR casita! Thanks VH. Hope to come back one day!

Overall this was a rather disappointing stay.
The positives were the spacious room with a large balcony and nice view. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable.
Unfortunately the food was mediocre and the service was slow. The breakfasts were average. The toast was like rubber and the ‘hot’ water for tea was brought out in an open top ceramic jug so didn’t stay warm for long. It was a shame that there was no place to get tea or hot water as there was only a coffee stand at breakfast ( this was the only place we stayed at in Belize where tea was not available and we had to keep knocking on the kitchen door for hot water in a paper takeout cup)
My wife has a dietary issue so couldn’t eat parts of the continental breakfast so she asked for two poached eggs and some toast instead for which we were charged an extra $6.
The service was strange. If you ordered poached eggs with toast, the toast would appear ten minutes before the eggs so was cold.
The food could be labelled more clearly. For example the potato cakes don’t mention that they are cheesy potato cakes.
We only had one evening meal at Victoria House as the evening menu was very restrictive. We found much better restaurants in San Pedro ( we particularly liked El Patio and Anglers seafood restaurant)
Considering the hotel only has 40 rooms it felt busy and was certainly not the Caribbean style resort we were expecting.
Considering how difficult the hotel was to get to it wasn’t the relaxing experience we had hoped for and, other than being a convenient stopping off point for the Hol Chan marine reserve, after four nights we were ready to move on to the next place.

Hi CaribbeanJohn,  Thanks for choosing to stay with us during your recent visit to Belize.   Of course, I’m following up on any perceived shortcomings mentioned in your review with our restaurant manager and F&B team. We’re always thankful for constructive criticism and any valid concerns as a way to improve our product and guest’s satisfaction level.   We were aware of your wife’s dietary restrictions and made a concerted effort to have suitable menu items available. Certainly, other options would have been offered had they been requested. We’re very flexible, having had considerable experience with same.  The Continental that you refer to carries a zero charge for registered guests.  It’s interesting to hear that we are a difficult property to access, being just two miles south of the airport. There are other resorts on the island, some are much closer to the airport, and some considerably more distant than our property.  We have 42 guest rooms and were fully booked during your stay. An average annual occupancy of 90% and many multi repeat guests speaks well of the level of service and amenities available. I have to say that your observation that we felt busy is quite the opposite of most comments on this matter, the majority of which marvel at how tranquil the property is, despite being fully booked. I ’m sorry to hear that you felt that you did not receive the outstanding quality of service and cuisine that generate so many complimentary reviews and repeat bookings, but  pleased to hear that you found other restaurants more suitable.  Brent
