Perfect location, right on the beach. Very clean and good little breakfast in the morn ing. Close to everything. We walked pretty much everywhere. Directly in front of the hotel is a great sports bar called Palapa Bar and Grill, overlooking the water. Got lucky as I knew nothing about San Pedro and was so pleased with the hotel.

One of my concerns before going to San Pedro was the amount of travel that would be required on the island. However, staying at the Blue Tang we were able to avoid getting a golf cart and we just walked everywhere.

Pros - location, small kitchenette
Cons - busy corner (golf carts start driving by around 6am).

If you want a simple, affordable option in San Pedro, the Blue Tang will suffice.

What a gorgeous property! When we arrived we were greeted by staff and our bags were carried to our room on the 3rd floor. Everyone was so kind! Our room (the Owners Suite) was spacious, beautifully decorated and clean. I loved the jugs of filtered water on every floor! The grounds were well maintained and so nice to enjoy while eating the complimentary breakfast - eggs and toast, pancakes, meat, beans and cheese fry jacks, orange juice, good coffee and always fresh fruits. There is even a large resident iguana who basks in the palm trees which was so fun to observe. I highly recommend staying at the Blue Tang Inn

The positive aspects of the Blue Tang Inn are: the cleaning staff, the hotel maintenance staff, and the location. The cleaning women are very polite and efficient.
The maintenance staff were also very nice and friendly. The location is central and it is easy to go on the various tours from there.

The negative aspects are: water goes out periodically, the office staff and the noise. The two women at the reception are minimally polite and seemed annoyed by our questions. They charged us for renting snorkeling gear when we bought our own. We asked for a quiet room and they put us on the street, which is very noisy. They then moved us to a central, quieter room, but after a few days we were surrounded by a group of twenty teenagers, who basically ruined our final days.

We appreciate you sharing your experience. The street side units are more noisy and moving to a different suite does solve the issue. Sorry the other guests were loud as well. Normally the hotel has couples staying and is quiet. We totally understand and appreciate the feedback.

The Blue Tang Inn is our absolute favourite hotel on the island. First off the location is spot on. You are close to everything, and right on the ocean. The hotel itself is well designed with a fun island feel and the rooms have everything you need to feel at home. We just stayed for 3 weeks and are already planning our next trip! The staff are what truly make The Blue Tang so special. Our 2 children (7&2) fell in love with all of them. Our kids were treated with kindness and genuine respect and love from each staff member. We truly feel like we have gained new friends in them. They all go out of their way to make you feel comfortable, at home, and yet like you’re being pampered on holiday. The island in general feels very safe, but is is a nice added touch to have Victor the security guard at night. Mrs. Fanny guides her staff with respect and thoughtfulness. They are all happy to be at work, and that says a lot. Geovani and Wildon were always working hard to keep the place and pool looking spotless and were quick to help bring our bags or stroller up and down so I didn’t struggle with the baby. We were offered fresh coconuts which was a fun treat! Daisy, Carmen and Janet are such lovely people. They each made great breakfasts in the morning and made sure we had everything we needed in our room. We loved chatting with them and getting to know them! Lizbeth and Robert were always quick to help or guide us when we had questions about the island. And Fanny was a pleasure to talk to and get to know. Thank you again everyone! We can’t wait to see you again very soon! -The Radunsky’s

Blue Tang is right on the beach in the busy heart of San Pedro, with beach bars and dive shops on all sides. Our ocean-front room on the second floor was clean and spacious, somewhat attractive. A/C and fridge worked great. Water smells sulfurous, but they keep a cooler of treated/ bottled water full on every floor with a pitcher in the room to fill. Staff was friendly and helpful, although there were a few minor hassles with booking the golf cart reservations and trips to Lamanai. Over all, we enjoyed this hotel. We probably won't visit San Pedro again (enjoyed it very much, but once is probably enough) but if we did, I would stay at Blue Tang and would recommend it to others who want a decent value.

My second time staying at Blue Tang. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Like almost all Belizeans they take mask wearing and cleaning very serious. They will help you arrange all the tours you need. Location is in town and can be bustling. Grocery stores as well as bars and restaurants are very close.

I spent a full week with the Blue Tang team and all about this property is ideal. Start w/ location next to dive shops, restaurants, two supermarkets, a coffee shop, other and it is within a few feet of beach and water. The room was exceptional and large enough to accommodate the elements of a remote work long stay. I would return. Thanks!

Stayed for the first two nights of my dive trip to the island. The location is absolutely fantastic. It is so close to bars, restaurants, and shops. You really could not ask for a better spot to stay. The hotel itself is quite cute and they’ve kept up on the paint and decorations well. There’s a small pool in the front and it’s right on the beach so very close to the ocean of course. the staff was very friendly and helpful. United lost my dive bag and the hotel staff was very accommodating in helping me get it from Houston to the island once I gave them updates on where it was. Sidenote: I will never fly without an AirTag in my luggage. That was key in figuring out where it was as United didn’t even know that it was lost until I told them exactly where it was sitting.

The only negatives I have were on the room. The room is self is quite large with a sleeping area, as well as a sitting area and kitchen table. It had a fairly well appointed kitchen with all that you would need to cook for yourself if you were staying long-term. Large full-size refrigerator to boot. The only two bad parts was that the bed was incredibly hard. My first night I hadn’t slept in 38 hours due to traveling so I fell asleep immediately. The second night, however, I really struggled to get to sleep because of the bed and the next factor. The other bad part about the room I was in, #1, is that it’s right on the corner of the street that it’s on. There were lights shining in the room all night long and any time a golf cart drove past their lights shine in the window. Those are also quite loud, so they would wake me up. Also, anytime anybody walked past the hotel to get to the many bars in that area, I could hear their conversation clearly. I was woken up multiple times until about 3:30 in the morning and I had to be up at six for my dive. I’m willing to bet the other rooms in the hotel don’t have the same issues in terms of light and noise. I can’t recommend that room but I’m sure the other ones are nice. I suspect all the beds are probably hard but I of course don’t know that for sure. I recommended to the hotel, at least black out curtains in that room , and it would be a good idea to bring your ear plugs unless you have to get up at a certain time and are afraid of missing your alarm. All in all, I think it was a really nice spot that I would still stay in again, but I would request a different room and hope that they get some mattress toppers or some thing for the beds. They may have actually had those already, but I didn’t think to ask until I was writing this.

My husband and I stayed four nights in an economy suite (#8) and one day into our stay we were already talking about coming back. The staff are helpful and friendly. They even arranged a same day 1/2 day snorkeling trip for us when we just had to visit Hol Chan again before we left. The room was very clean and staff cleaned the grounds each day. For us, having the kitchenette really added to our stay. We were able to grab drinks and snacks to leave in the refrigerator just a short walk away at Kmart. The breakfast available each morning was great, just enough to get you to lunch and a great added value we didn't see at any other hotel when booking. We also took advantage of the complementary taxi to and from the airport (which is very close but it was so nice that we didn't have to worry about that!). The location can't be beat. It is very walkable to anything downtown, though we definitely recommend renting a golf cart too. I think we would have been a little bored at one of the resorts way outside of the center of San Pedro so the Blue Tang was the perfect fit for us. Lastly, there was a night security guard that kept an eye on who was entering the resort late at night, a nice addition even though it felt like a safe place to stay. Will absolutely stay again! Thanks, Blue Tang Inn for the great experience.

Blue Tang has freshly prepared breakfast every morning, and the menu changes every day. I have a gluten intolerance, and found a tortilleria in San Pedro. Armed with fresh tortillas, I substituted these when they had pancakes. The cook always helps to make sure you get a good meal. Once booked with Tropic Air or Maya Air to San Pedro, they might put you on an earlier flight if you arrive early or if delayed, they will get you there if you missed the booked flight. They're very flexible and helpful.

It depends on the time of year that you go. If you go during peak season it will cost more. The lowest that I have seen is $120.00 per night. The owners suite is the best view.

My husband, our three kids (8, 10, 11), and I went to Belize on a missions trip last summer. We stayed for one night in Belize city. The next day we left to San Pedro. we got a taxi at the hotel that took us to the boat station. We purchased the tickets when we got there. You’ll find tourists from different parts of the world at the station traveling from Belize city to San Pedro or other islands nearby. We waited about on hour to board and leave. As soon as we got to the port in San Pedro we found lots of taxi drivers offering their services. The kids had fun traveling by boat to San Pedro and it wasn’t expensive. If I’m not wrong I think we paid $40.00 p/p. They do charge you city tax when you leave the country. You have to be advised that if you wanna really enjoy the whole island you should rent a golf cart which is what we did. We paid $300.00 for five days. I hope I’ve been helpful to your question. Have fun!
