My husband and I visited X'tan Ha for our 25th anniversary and are already planning a return visit with our kids. This resort hit all the right notes for us: the staff was welcoming and responsive. We purposely chose the remote location because it appeared to have a better beach access than those closer to town. Water taxis to town cost us $10 per person each way and the sufficient amenities at the property resulted in our not feeling the need to leave the grounds to go to San Pedro more than once. (Golf carts are also available.)
The snorkeling tour to Mexico rocks was a highlight and we enjoyed using the complimentary bikes and exploring other properties in the nearby vicinity. Kayaks are available and the 2 pools are refreshing.
We feel lucky to have visited the property only a couple of months after the new restaurant managers took over. Box Balaam served delicious seafood and other tasty dishes. We are from a restaurant city so we appreciated the quality ingredients and authentic preparation that went into every meal we ordered, Another resort we considered had a menu that resembled airport food: pizza, pasta, burgers. In our experience, the prices were not unreasonable given the quality of what was being served. We loved the location of the bar over the water.
The tap water was salty. The resort tries to make up for this by providing a gallon of purified water in the rental unit. We found the unit comfortable and well-suited for our needs. The property is a nice size, not sprawling, but offering everything we needed.

The location was amazing... right on the beach. Winds were high and the mosquitos were thick when we stayed (Thanksgiving Week 2019) but that is not location-specific. Bring bug spray but it wasn't too bad on the beach. We rented a golf cart (a must) and never ate at the property itself, although the menu looked great.
The one thing I thought strange was the water was all semi-salty. I could never get fully clean. I am not sure if all the water in hotels in Belize are like this but it was at this particular property.
I would visit there again, though. It was within a 20 minute golf cart ride to the town, several cool restaurants and the Secret Beach area, which was the best place to hang out, relax, have a bite and just enjoy the tropical life.

Our water is from a well and does go through a reverse osmosis system. This is typical for most properties on the northern part of the island. We hope to host you again in the future.

We had such a wonderful time staying at X’Tan Ha. From stepping out the door of our charming accommodations, we had virtually everything within a few steps away. Beautiful setting on the beach and poolside, along with activities including kayaking, paddle boarding, biking, walking the beach, or just chilling, reading a good book. The staff was amazing. The office management and housecleaning services were fantastic. We loved spending time in the beautiful Palapa having a fabulous meal or just sitting watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee or an afternoon cocktail. Mitch, Allison, and Marlon could not have been more enjoyable and accommodating. We could also take our golf cart ride to explore other wonderful restaurants. Dee Dee provided us with wonderful sailing and snorkeling adventures along the beautiful reef. She was delightful! We initially were concerned about being a little ways out of town, San Pedro. As it turned out we absolutely loved being in a quieter area with such pristine accommodations and such an attentive, thoughtful staff. We would highly recommend X’Tan Ha and look forward to visiting again some day.

Great spot for couples who want a fun beach bar, easy access to snorkeling, and secluded location. We are already looking forward to our next visit!
Service: Everyone at the resort was extremely helpful- a special shoutout to Cameron who drove us to the San Pedro airport and came back when I realized I left my phone in the back seat. Our room was ready when we checked in and they accommodated a late check out. The beach was pristine and I saw people raking seaweed off at 6 AM daily. We emailed back and forth with the front desk to book transfers and they replied very quickly.
Bar: 11 stars out of 10, absolutely legendary bartender named Alex who makes a delicious mojito. All the fruity drinks start with fresh fruit - you can literally see him & the team chopping up cantaloupe/pineapple/watermelon etc. It’s a beautiful location on the dock and we actually saw dolphins, rays, and pelicans out enjoying the water from our bar seats!
Room: we had a one bedroom casita and it was perfect for 2 people. Small kitchen if you need it, we didn’t really bother cooking. Comfy king bed and a great shower. Cute little balcony with a hammock overlooking one of the 2 pools. Clean and decorated in the traditional Belize style- mahogany wood, bright colors
Pools: there’s two which is chill, one is more shallow that caters to families and one is deeper to actually swim in
Beach: small but nice. The sun rises directly off the shore and it’s a beautiful view. Nice beach umbrellas and comfy chairs. If you go out on the beach on a clear night, you can see so many stars and it’s stunning!
Activities: they contract with Tuff Enuff which is a great local tour company. We booked 3 tours for the week on our first day (mainland Lamanai ruins, snorkeling, fishing) and enjoyed them. It’s not really worth booking in advance.
Golf carts: expensive to rent them here compared to in San Pedro, like $40 US for half a day
Location: we actually really liked being a 30 minute (golf cart or transfer van) drive north of San Pedro. It’s quiet, peaceful, and almost feels like your own private island. I do wish we had paid a bit more for an ocean view for our room.

A stunning resort for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of San Pedro. I can not fault X tan ha. We had a beach view room which was out of this world. Very well equipped and stunning views. The whole place is immaculately kept. The staff work non stop to try and keep the beach clear of the dreaded sargasso weed that plagues all of belizes beaches. The pools are beautiful and perfect for children. Having said that there were no children here during our stay. In fact there were only 6 other guests the whole time we were here so we felt like we had the place to ourselves!
The resort is quite far from town and about 40 mins in a golf buggy from secret beach. There isn’t much to do and no where you can really walk to but perfect of you just want to relax. The on-site bar and restaurant offer nice food at a reasonable price.

It’s only been a few weeks and my family is already dreaming of our next visit to X’tan Ha! It is such a perfect setting for a both relaxing and adventurous getaway. The two beautiful pools are very little-kid friendly and the calm water on the impeccably maintained beach is perfect for playing. We enjoyed many lovely meals at the picturesque restaurant on the dock, Mitch was especially friendly and really took care of us.
Our two bedroom suite was sparkling clean and very comfortable. The grounds are very well cared for all around, with free amenities like kayaks, paddleboards, ping pong, and giant chess. My daughter is still drawing pictures of the hotel and the friends we made there!
Book tours with Kim at Tuff E Nuff! So much more than your typical concierge, her welcoming nature and friendship truly made my daughters’ trip and we couldn’t wait to see her every morning. The snorkeling at Mexico Rocks is full of underwater life and so close! Loads of other great tour options as well.
It’s a bit of a golf cart drive out of town, but that makes it feel more private and homey, and there are options to dine & explore nearby as well. We also really loved having a full kitchen for times we just felt like “eating at home.” We really did feel so at home here- while feeling totally taken care of at the same time.
X’tan Ha, thank you for making our first international trip with children so incredible and memorable. We will be back!

The mood and set up of the resort reminds a lot about the resorts in Maldives and Malaysia that we visited. The sand is powdery white and the beach is cleaned several times a day from the seaweed that is the nightmare of the beaches in Belize. The staff - so nice and friendly. Two pools, restaurant and the bar on the pier. As it is away from the busy and noisy town of San Pedro, it is not overcrowded and an ideal place to relax. I do hope we will have a chance to visit here again. Highly reccomend. Best regards to David Nal

X'tan Ha Resort is paradise personified! From the moment we booked our vacation there, the service was extraordinary! Luis provided me with all of the detail for our upcoming stay via email and responded promptly to my every inquiry. From the moment of arrival, the service at the resort was impeccable. Our bags were taken, all of the information about our stay was beautifully delivered and the staff was friendly and professional 100% of the time ready to accomodate our every need! The first night we went to the beautiful outdoor restaurant and bar and met the dynamic and charming Alex! He took care of us making sure we had the most delicious beverages and cocktails and several nights we had dinner from the resort restaurant out on the peer. I had the best coconut shrimp and snapper with capers in a garlic, butter sauce I have ever had! We took several excursions with the "Tuff Enuff " tours and they were outstanding! The snorkeling adventure was led by James, Ash, Jose,and Jameel who were all friendly and professional making safety first while providing us with such a fun and exciting adventure! Ernest arranged all of our tours and was most congenial and thorough in making sure we did exactly what we wanted. All of the tours were on time and provided beverages for the people on board. We also took a deep fishing guided tour led by Luis who also provided such a wonderful experience through his expertise and experience. A young man named Cameron also worked at the resort in various capacities and helped us with anything we might have needed. The resort itself is beautiful and is pristinely kept at ALL times! We headed to our golfcart for an evening out and it had been meticulously washed and waxed inside and out getting any sand or salt off of it! The housekeeping was readily available for frequent cleaning and any amenities we might need! A huge container of filtered water was provided for us along with coffee and a large kitchen and great room! The upstairs had a beautiful bedroom and large terrace with a delightful hammock which we frequently relaxed in while overlooking the resort and the ocean! There was also another bedroom for a larger group to use. Our only regret was ........not staying longer! !!!! We can hardly wait to go again. Same time next year!!!!!

Spent another 6 days last week in my favorite spot on Ambergris Caye. The landscaping was more lush and beautiful than ever before, pools were crystal clear and decked out with new lounge chairs and brightly colored umbrellas. The buildings have been newly stained and the iconic brightly colored roofs have obviously been repainted. The bar has been updated since my last visit and there is more seating on the water and the restaurant is under new management and the breakfasts I had were hot and delicious. Management and staff is immediately responsive to guest requests and I so look forward to a relaxing return in 6 months.

We were lucky enough to stay at this amazing resort over Spring Break. We stayed at Michelle and Scott Gerbozy's place at the resort. From the initial email communication to the day we arrived, it was nothing but top notch service. The driver that picked us up at the airport stopped at a local grocery store first so we could pick up some drinks, etc. As we were going thru San Pedro he gave us suggestions to go eat, etc. Once we arrived at X'Tan (by the way I was wearing a boot due to a recent foot injury) the front desk made sure i had all the help i needed walking across the sand ;) From the restaurant, who always accommodated our daughter (who is a picky eater) food requests to the Kim at the Dive shop on site, to the workers who made sure our golf cart was working properly and always full of gas - we never had bad service while here. Seaweed - what seaweed? There was always workers clearing the pesky seaweed away for the beach multiple times a day. We absolutely loved out stay here and look forward to coming back again in the future!

Yes, X'tanha is on the best section of beach on the island I think, and the water in front is usually clear. Now when the winds kick up, it can become murky, but right now its very nice. There are ample beach chairs and one of the pools has a sandy walk in entrance so its good for small children.
There are more places to choose from in the San Pedro area.
