Super cute spot on the beach and an ideal location — an easy walk to town but out enough to be quiet. There’s a covered dock perfect for reading or jumping in for a swim. We stayed at Barefoot soon after Belize reopened to tourists. The owner, Susan, arranged tours for guests even when most places were closed. She was easily accessible for extra water, towels, and anything we needed. And when she found out we were planning to build a home on Caye Caulker, she called around to check out builders we were considering. How’s that for full service! It felt like staying with family.

We absolutely loved staying at Barefoot Beach. It was out of the city on the quiet side of the caye. The hotel provided bikes to ride all over the caye! We loved riding our bikes into town in the morning for breakfast and then hanging at one of the public beaches. You can't walk right off the beach into the ocean here but they had a long dock with hammock! It was so relaxing to have the breeze sway you in the hammock over the ocean.

We absolutely loved our time at Barefoot Beach Resort...even as our trip occured amongst the unusual post-COVID opening of Belize. The Oceanfront room was just what my husband and I needed - a great little patio space, comfy bed, warm shower, mini-fridge & coffeemaker, and wifi. The availability of a smart TV was also there, although we enjoyed being "unplugged" most of the week. The location of the property was PERFECT! Enough "away" from what would usually be the hustle and bustle of front street and the bars/restaurants but also close enough to be in the midst of the action in a short walk or bike ride just a few blocks away. The direct waterfront location, with lovely little beach area and great private dock/pier/palapa was fabulous! Morning coffee looking out over sunrise, swimming in the afternoon, and paddleboarding (brought my own, rentals available nearby usually) was delightful. Susan was the most helpful and accommodating hostess and made our stay wonderful despite some strict governmental regulations regarding movement of tourists at this time (which we were well informed about prior to arrival and so were perfectly in line with our expectations, travelers MUST take responsibility to know local rules and restrictions if they travel in this COVID world!) We will 100% be back to Barefoot Beach when things are a bit more 'back to usual' on the island, but this relaxing vacation - which we dubbed "Escape 2020" was so refreshing and rejuvinating for the body & soul, much in part to the wonderful serenity and comfort we found at Barefoot Beach!

I am very disappointed in the response to my unfortunate cancellation I had to request due to the corona virus and the recommendation by the US government to not be traveling to other foreign countries during this time of the epidemic worldwide. I understand that my reservation was past the time of cancellation but up to three days ago I did not know we would be quarantined to our house and would be lose my jobs. I reached out to Barefoot Resort and they did offer a credit for a year but refused to refund my full payment due to the circumstances. Although I appreciated that offer, the likely hood with the loss of my job till who knows when reduces my chances of being able to travel in the next year. In emails they just kept reiterating their cancellation policy as if I didn't know it. I would have never cancelled this trip but it is out of my hands at this time. They insisted they couldn't give me a full refund since they already incurred booking fees and banking fees. I would never re-book a stay at this place ever again due to their poor customer service.

I made it quite clear to guests that if they cancelled, depending on the timing and circumstances they would receive a refund less fees I paid on THEIR behalf or a full credit. Their choice. If they chose to wait to cancel until AFTER I also paid the booking commissions then they would have to cover that also. I can not afford to cover all their expenses plus refund them fully. But some people are only concerned about themselves.

We sure enjoyed the two nights we stayed at this property. There are various choices of accommodation available to fit most budgets. The place was super clean. The staff is efficient, extremely friendly and goes out of their way to make your stay great. We spent our first night in one of the Cabanas, which was fantastic, then spent the 2nd night in the two bedroom house which has a fantastic veranda that overlooks the beautiful beach with view of the reef! The house was super nice and spacious and has two bedrooms and even more space to sleep in the main room. This would make a fantastic choice for a family who wanted a great comfortable, secure accommodation on the island. There is a clean groomed sandy area on the water and a lovely dock to hang out on, with water access for anyone who wants to swim. Oh yes, and if that was not enough two bicycles were included in our rental. Highly recommended.
