Nestled in the heart of the city, Hyatt Centric Guatemala City garners praise for its stellar location, with guests enjoying easy access to local malls and attractions in a safe neighborhood. The spacious and tastefully decorated rooms, complete with ample amenities, are a hit among travelers.
Guests have called out the friendly staff and efficient service, despite the occasional hiccup with shuttle services. While most revel in the hotel's cleanliness and modern vibe, some note that room amenities could be enhanced and the vibrant entertainment can be loud.

This is a great hotel! I wouldn’t expect anything less from a Hyatt so no real surprise there. It feels much more generic than some of the more boutique hotels we stayed at in Guatemala that really gave you a feel for the culture and architecture of the country, but everything felt new, looked high end, and was tastefully decorated. We arrived in the late morning (around 11) and even though check-in is at 3pm they got our room ready for us quickly and allowed us to check in early (at no extra charge) after just a slight delay. This was completely unexpected and amazing! Other pluses about this hotel: The neighborhood it is in (Zona 10) felt safe to walk around in at night, the rooftop lounge and pool are gorgeous, the restaurant food is pretty good (and there is a decent selection of vegetarian options), and there are motion activated lights by the bed that provide a little bit of illumination without lighting up the whole room if you get up in the middle of the night. The rooms are quite large with huge windows and the shower had good water pressure. Lastly, the hotel throws an awesome New Years Eve Party! The restaurant had a fantastic buffet and live entertainment, and then up on the roof there was a DJ and drink service.
Now for the slight negatives: there is no door between the bathroom and bedroom and the bed is right beside the half wall that the sink is up against so if you are up early getting ready the light and sound from the sink area will likely wake up anyone still in bed. Also, rather oddly, the room did not contain a safe (there was a mini-fridge though!). Lastly, be warned that the elevator doors close very quickly and do not appear to contain a sensor as one started to close on me and did not spring back open when it hit my arm.

Very nice, well kept and stylish hotel in a good area of Guate Zone 10. Attached to a mall with nearly no stores, but lots of quality restaurants to chose from.
Rudy greeted us at the door, walked us to the check in area and waited while we got checked in. He spent the time to explain everything to us and made sure our bags got to our room. His service was the best we recieved during our stay, but overall all the staff were friendly. I was a little disapointed not to get offered any upgrade at all at check in, even with our Explorer status with Hyatt, given the hotel itself was very quiet the night we stayed there and obvioulsy nowhere near full.
The room itself was nicely decorated with lots of lighting features, free bottled water in the room and a coffee maker. It was not the Nespresso brand as it says online, but the coffee was pretty good. Bedding was great, and the robes and slippers were a great touch! I also really like the Hyatt app that allows you to make requests for things to come to the room, without having to call anyone for them. We did call down for extra water which was delivered promptly.
We declined the Hotel's $15 per person fee to take a shuttle to the airport, and opted for Uber instead. The Uber car that picked us up was Tiny...we had the same issue last time we stayed here and used Uber. On our last stay we got the Uber and only one of us could fit in the car, so we had to get a 2nd! It was a pain and not great to get separated when we were airport bound....so if you are travelling with large lugage, it might be worth forking out the extra to the hotel. I saw a very nice large red SUV at the front door market with the hotel logo. I'm not sure if that was the "shuttle"? But if so, well worth the fee, we will try it next time for sure.
(In any case, the drive to the airport in the small Uber only cost us $4, and took 10 minutes, *at 5am. I suspect by 6 or 7 am, it could easily take 30 minutes (or more) with the insane traffic in Guate city).
The roof pool was closed, the covered bar area also closed so we did not get to enjoy any of that. But the only real complaint I had is for the terrible dessert we ordered from room service. It showed up in 20 minutes, and a service fee was added ot the bill, which is all good. But it was terrible, we each tried a little but chucked it out (a creme brulle that was *nothing like it was suposed to be, and it was just big chunks of some candied fruit or something in some gritty custard?) I don't recommend it!
Next time, I think I will opt to upgrade us to a suite with a tub. Our basic level king room was nie enough, but had no real separation from the bedroom to the bathroom, which is not uncommon in Central America, but I don't love that set up that lacks in privacy.
All in all, we like the hotel a lot and I'd recommend it.

We were referred to this hotel in particular because, my cousin, Douglas Montenegro Gálvez worked on the building of this project as overseeing the construction of this beautiful masterpiece. He was lead project manager of construction and engineering and it was his recommendation that pushed us to reserve the room. Overall, the stay was pleasant and welcoming. The staff made extra effort in allowing us the use of the pool due to staff being accommodating and helpful! That made the trip even better! Also, we needed a print out of an email and the staff was very productive in getting it printed out and getting it to us in an expedited manner. The only problem we had was that the room door lock was not working properly and did not accept the room key. It was a real inconvenience and we had to call maintenance to come repair it. Fortunately, it didn’t take too long for the technician to come and fix the problem. Independent of that small issue we had, we would recommend this hotel and would stay there again due to its helpful and friendly staff, the safety of the location, and the variety of eatery places in and around the hotel.

We stayed in this hotel for a few nights while in the city, and it was a wonderful choice. It's not far from the airport and it's located in a very safe and walkable part of the city. If you're looking for the historical sites then you'll need to take a cab, but that's also not that far from the hotel. Good bars, restaurants and clubs are all within a few blocks from there. Our room was big and comfortable, with a nice view of the city. Everything just like new and working well. The breakfast is really good and plentiful, and you can order eggs any way you like without having to wait for them to be done. Good choices for bread as well. Finally, the rooftop bar and pool were very distinctive amenities for us. You get fantastic views of the city and a beautiful place to chill. That said, it can get pretty windy and cold up there in the pool! It's still a fun time, though!

Like other Hyatt Centrics in Latin/South America, the Hyatt Centric GUA City is a true oasis. Situated in a very trendy area with loads of safe and fun nightlife and tasty and stylish restaurants and shopping, the Hyatt Centric is perfectly located in GUA City (and very close to the airport, as well). The hotel itself is very modern but at the same time, maintains a very local vibe with its beautiful furnishings, roof top bar and exceptional restaurant. In fact, one of the best hotel buffet breakfasts available. The room was very spacious with modern earth tones and a great soaking tub and huge shower - a perfect sanctuary after a day of site seeing and shopping. The staff was very nice and helpful, as well. Many travelers told us to skip GUA city and go straight from airport to Antigua. What a mistake that would have been. GUA city has some very interesting cultural sites, great shopping and restaurants, friendly locals and at least one GREAT hotel - the Hyatt Centric GUA City. You won't be disappointed, I promise.

We had a great one night stay at the Hyatt Centric! As earlier reviewers had described, attached to the mall which contains several high end-stores, some car dealers, stand alone restaurants and where we ate, a food court. Note the food court is located on an upper level of the mall. Anyway back to the hotel: We were greeted promptly by the most wonderful bellman, name of Rudy, who promptly guided us up the elevator to check-in. Our room was not immediately ready, (we were early), but he promised to come get us when it was. A short time later, only 20 minutes, we were in our room on the 15th floor. Our room had a king size bed, desk, large flat screen and high-end coffee maker. The bed linen seemed to be missing a sheet? Or is that normal? Bathroom was nice but missing towel holders? Shower was wonderful and we liked our room very much. Went upstairs to the pool and you had to navigate through the upstairs restaurant. We found the music way too loud emanating from both the restaurant and the pool. Actually it was unbearable, starting to rain so we left after a quick dip in the pool. We did not eat in the hotel main restaurant as they only offered a buffet. We will stay again. Rudy is the best so when you stay ask for Rudy!

Pablo and Rudy provided excellent service during our stay. The hotel is in a convenient, walkable location. It feels more like an upscale business hotel than a resort, which was fine for us because we were there for sightseeing. I’d take off a half point because of the food quality. The food in the restaurant wasn’t very flavorful, and it was one of the higher priced options in the area. That being said, we dined at many restaurants within walking distance which provided us with better flavors and value. The brunch was nice. The bed was too firm for our taste.

Very attentive staff, tasty breakfast and room with good space and quite comfortable. I would only recommend that the pool be actually heated and that the beds be double because they are smaller than a double. Very good cleaning of the hotel

I’m glad I selected the Hyatt Centric in Guatemala City. Their Covid protocols were evident with sanitizer everywhere and thermometers for temperature checks. Staff was very accommodating and even helped resolve an issue when my test results were not received. I also appreciated the Covid test was available on site. That was a huge bonus. Thank you to the entire team from the bellman, front desk, waiters, etc.

I’m sure the hotel can help set up covid testing or direct you to a place nearby. The hotel is fantastic. But opted to use the testing place at the airport as it was quick and more convenient for us as we flew to GUA domestically from Flores and spent a day in Guatemala City.
There are more places to choose from in the Guatemala City area.
