Nestled in the bustling heart of Zone 10, The Westin Camino Real, Guatemala, is lauded for its sumptuous amenities, including a luxurious pool, a comprehensive gym, and diverse dining experiences, with a breakfast buffet that particularly stands out. Guests revel in the hotel's elegant ambiance and the comfort of their rooms, despite some suggestions for modern updates. The central location is a hit for its convenience to local hotspots. Cleanliness is consistently commended, yet the service receives mixed reviews, and the value proposition is occasionally questioned.

My teen daughter and I stayed at the Westin for three nights and this is the first time I've been back there in 20 years. I had forgotten how lovely the hotel is!
The lobby, dining areas, pool are, and rooms were all very clean and beautiful. The pool cushions are covered each night to protect from rain, and the pool is maintained regularly to remove fallen leaves; the pool area is filled with lush trees and plants. The fitness center is extensive, with numerous separate rooms for weights, spin classes, yoga classes, and cardio equipment.
When we arrived, it was Saturday before Easter, and there was a beautiful example of sawdust carpet just inside the lobby for us to enjoy for the holiday.
The breakfast buffet was spectacular, with many options for fruit, yogurt, breads (even a donut tree!), meats and cheeses, Guatemalan foods, eggs, and much more; there was an omelet/egg station and a crepe/pancake station for made-to-order selections. Also available were fresh juice varieties, and even a table filled with coconuts where you only had to grab a straw and take it with you. We enjoyed 3 mornings of breakfast and one evening meal; I highly recommend the Surf & Turf Tacos. One day by the pool we shared a plate of Nachos, which was fantastic.
Our room was very nice; we had plenty of bottled water each day, the towels were soft, and the beds were comfortable.
All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. There is an ATM on site, which was very convenient. Cab fee to the airport was $10 and could be paid at the front desk or at the concierge.
I will not wait another 20 years for our next visit. Thank you!

This Hotel is a very interesting resort to stay at. Overall, if you are going to stay in Guatemala City, this is a good destination for english speaking guests as most of the clientele here speak some english. The buffet breakfast is excellent, the ammenities are very nice. I’m only here for two nights on business so I didn’t bring clothes to work out in but they actually have classes and a full weight room. The pool is phenomenal and there is a hot tub attached to it. There is a functional “business center” with some computers and desks to set up at, a Casino, some neat jewelry shops, and car service that will pick you up and drop you off at the airport for safe transport while you are in Guatemala City.

You need a card to access the elevator and go up to any floor so I feel very safe in this hotel. It’s also in a good central location that is relatively safe for tourists. The amenities feel luxuries but the rooms are pretty traditional and not very updated. That being said the bathroom feels luxurious, the shower has good pressure. The bed is comfy and the sheets are better than average hotel room sheets. This hotel really feels like a place where you spend most of your time around the hotel and only a little time actually in your room.

Whether on business or making your way through Central America, this is an excellent location to stay at, especially for guests that require english speaking staff like myself.

The hotel is one of the best you’d visit in the world with keenness on details for the comfort of the guest.
The hotel requires using a mask in all public places except for food and drink places.
The room is already equipped with amenities and you can request others in case needed (e.g. dental kit or slippers).
The bed is comfortable with nice pillows and the room temperature control is ok.
All of the bedside and desk lamps are old fashioned with the power button inside the lamp which is not so convenient to control; in other words you can’t control all lights from a central location but you need to pass by one by one of the desk/bedside lamps to turn on/off.
I received couple of worn out towels which I didn’t expect from such a nice place.
There’s an ice machine in the corridor.
The hotel is huge and has a nice outdoor swimming pool.
Information about opening hours of the reception/front desk aren’t updated; they operate 24/7.
There’re couple of restaurants, an ATM, underground parking and some shops withi m’n the facility.
Prices are quite high in comparison to an average Guatemalan income but similar to a 3-4 stars hotel in Europe.

For this occasion that I visited the hotel, I had the unpleasant experience that they did not want to worth my status of the Marriott chain, so rather they wanted to charge me an additional per night to receive a room + breakfast assent. I had to argue with the front desk person, trying to assert my benefit (rooms were available). After arguing for several minutes with this person and him coming and going from doing several consultations, they changed my room, but already the bad experience was done. This is the only hotel in the Marriott chain I have visited, where I have had to "fight" for the benefits. I caution other visitors who are members of Marriott Bonvoy to take care and assert their rights if visiting this hotel.
Otherwise, it is a nice hotel, with very good location in Zone 10 near restaurants and nightlife.

This hotel is located in the 10th district of Guatemala City, one of the most beautiful and safe in the city, it has very comfortable and quiet rooms, even those that have a view of the street (mine), so rest is guaranteed. the size of the room is adequate.
Very attentive staff in all areas.
My only suggestion is to modify the shower floor since it is very slippery or include a non-slip mat.

A clearly mediocre hotel that tries to pass as a luxury hotel. I want to say first that the employees are very friendly and attentive. The problem is at the administration level. Given the price, I was expecting something of high quality. However, I have had a better time in hotels that cost me Q60 a night.
For example:
- They provide two small bottles of drinking water a day.
- You have to pay extra for an espresso.
- There are no stairs on the ground floor so you have to wait for one of the two very slow elevators even if you only have one floor to go up or down.
- There are no omelettes in the breakfast buffet.
- They send you a survey to ask your opinion; However, the survey works only when you are connected to the hotel's Wi-Fi, but the email with the link arrives two days after your check-out.
The list of small frustrations like this is long. You can get it better in the center and much cheaper.

An elegant hotel from its entrance to the lobby, reception, restaurant and its extraordinary breakfast, abundant, varied very well presented and the attention magnificent. The room that corresponded very comfortable, a king size bed and comfortable pillows, very tasteful and elegant decoration. Anyway we had an unforgettable stay. It is a hotel worthy of Guatemala and to which I would not hesitate to return

The Camino Real Hotel in Guatemala is one of the most renowned and legendary hotels in the city. It has a classic and elegant design; the rooms are spacious and the service is good. However, it already feels a bit dated. I think they need a remodel, especially in the rooms.
The breakfast buffet is also quite well-known and many people, even non-guests of the hotel, like to go to El Cafetal for breakfast. Personally, I felt it was quite overrated. It doesn't have many options and what it has is pretty average, nothing special. I would have preferred to go out for breakfast somewhere else in the vicinity of the hotel.
The gym, pool and sauna are pretty good. Overall, it was a good experience.

I’m a Marriott Gold member, but would have earned more points booking through Capital One travel. That said, there were many rooms available so before booking I called the hotel twice to confirm that if I booked, as a Gold member I’d qualify for an upgrade. Both times I was told yes. When I went to check in, I was told the hotel was full and they couldn’t offer me an upgrade. When I showed the man at the front desk the hotel’s own website showing multiple rooms available, he took a few minutes but then offered me a room with a worse view on the executive floor but with no executive lounge access. Finally I asked him what benefits I get as a Gold member and he said “In Guatemala, you only get extra points.”

I really wish they were honest with me upfront so I could have earned more points booking through another site.

My wife and I stayed just 1 night at this hotel – it was the fourth leg of our tour of Guatemala and Costa Rica. It was selected because of its proximity to the airport. Arriving after 10 pm, check in was smooth – we were assigned a third floor room half way along a corridor. The room was spacious and furnished functionally. The bathroom had a large step in shower – the water was hot and at a good pressure It was reassuring to have a large safe to secure our valuables. We were booked to eat in the café style American restaurant for breakfast. We were told that we could order what we liked, but when I selected fresh fruit and a cooked breakfast I was informed that this exceeded my entitlement (this was a travel agency booking). Eventually I was permitted a small plate of fruit with my cooked meal. Service was less than slick – we had to ask for menus, more coffee and the bill.

We only stayed in this hotel for 12 hours so it is not possible to comment on its facilities. It was perfectly adequate in meeting our needs. The corporate nature of the hotel meant that it was lacking in character – it could have been in any large city.
