Twice we asked for only cut up fruit in our boxed breakfast (as we were up way too early to eat breakfast at the hotel due to a pre planned day trip and to go to airport for our flight home). They did not listen and we had to throw out the entire breakfast as there was nothing in it that we could eat. The second time we specified (yet again) cut up fruit only and told them we are vegan - this time was even worse as they put in meat sandwiches!!! Yet again, whole bag of food was tossed out and we went hungry and we had paid for breakfast each morning, so a total waste of money.
The rooms, lobby areas and corridors are old and tired and the rooms smelt musty. The bathtub kept clogging and the sink tap was very difficult to shut off. This hotel was probably lovely in the 1960's but is in desperate need of a facelift.
We stayed 4 days and then came back for one day - on our second check in, they had us down for 4 nights instead of one! Luckily we had our confirmation on us as they take payment upon check in! Not the best experience.

The hotel was much better than what I expected. I messaged the hotel a day before I arrived asking about the shuttle bus from the airport, and they arranged it for me even though I arrived after midnight. The hotel had a 24 hour reception, which was great. Staff were very friendly, and the room was very nice and clean. The breakfast was included, and it was by far the best breakfast I have had in any hotel. The hotel is at a main street, so it can be noisy.

It is an older hotel that has been well maintained and is very clean.

Includes all the amenities we enjoy. The breakfast in the dining room get 10 on 10 as do the staff. Our Spanish is terrible, but language was never a problem.

Returned fro our tour and enjoyed a well deserved swim in the pool. The hot tub was just a warm tub.

We would definitely come back.

The Hotel is kind fo old, but still good looking, my problems started at the front desk, the man that helped me set up my aunt for her stay was very rude, seemed like he did no wanted to work at all. Then thesecond day the shower stopped working and nobody helped. It use to be a great hotel but needs training and faster service.

Stayed here for 9 nights, mid-June. Great staff - always ready to help. The hotel could use a touch of TLC, but the friendliness and service more than make up for a blemish here and there. Super clean, and the food in the restaurant is awesome. They're the best...can't wait to see them all again!

The Las Americas hotel is a 5-star hotel, excellent service and excellent location, close to strategic points of the capital. It has an excellent breakfast buffet, and first-rate room service. Highly recommended when visiting the Guatemalan capital.

My boyfriend and I were excited to find a great deal on our hotel room at the Crown Plaza. It was our last night in Guatemala, and we had been staying in value places the rest of our trip, so we decided to spend a bit more to have a nice ending to our trip. Well, what we experienced turned out to be the least enjoyable night of our trip, as well as a scary experience.
The drama started a couple of hours after we checked in, around 6:00 p.m. We were in our room and we heard a noise at the door. A man in a suit and a piece of luggage opened the door...he had a room key that worked! We were quite surprised to say the least! A couple of moments later we received a call from the front desk asking me to verify my name and passport information. I told them I preferred to go downstairs and do it in person. We decided it would be best if one of us stayed in the room...since someone else obviously had a key to our room!
Less than a minute after my boyfriend left the room, there was a knock at the door. I did not answer, but rather peeked through the keyhole to see who was there. It was a guy dressed in hotel uniform who was trying to open the door! He was signaling to someone down the hall, pointing toward my door and using hand signals to communicate. At this point I was starting to get a bit nervous...I continued to watched through the peephole. Just then, two older men who appeared to be patrons of the hotel approached the guy in uniform asking him to help them with something. With a look of disappointment he went with the men. I noticed another guy dressed in the hotel's uniform was leaning against the wall at the end of the hall, waiting on the other guy to return. Before the first guy could get back, my boyfriend came back to the room. My boyfriend said that the person at the front desk was questioning him about our check-in, who checked us in, what time we were leaving for the airport in the morning, if we were taking the shuttle, etc...He had given them all the information they asked for without hesitation. I told him about the guy at the end of the hall and he went out to confront him about what he was doing there. The guy said they were installing new modems in the room. After 6:00 p.m.??? Installing modems??? We didn't buy his story. The situation was getting weirder...
A few minutes later we received another call from the front desk. This time they were apologizing for the inconveniences. They then sent an insipid, under-ripe fruit plate to our room as an apology for our inconvenience and called a bit later, again, to ask if we'd received it.
We still thought something was not quite right, and considered changing hotels, but ultimately decided to stay since it was so close to the airport.
We felt the hotel's employees were trying to rob us, and I am now pretty certain of it.
The next morning we awoke to a letter saying we needed to go to the front desk and give our credit card information again, as the charges did not go through. We ignored the letter and took the earliest shuttle out of there, a little scared of what might happen if we left at our designated time.
When we got home I checked my credit card statement, and, as we had thought, the room HAD been charged! The employees were indeed trying to get us out of our room to rob us. This is a scary scam. But at least we were able to recognize and avoid it.

This Hotel is a little dated, but very well maintained. Can still be called a Crowne Plaza. The rooms were very comfortable, and it had good work space. The room was clean and had a flat screen TV.
On 30 minutes from the airport and close to the Zoo and marketplace. This property has a good Spa and if you like to try your luck, it also has a Casino. It has a very nice exercise room with a sauna and a whirlpool. All in all, a nice hotel and a good value. You won't be disappointed.

Good business hotel, lots of facilities, great gym, busy place, lots of meeting rooms, sleeping rooms have very nice new beds but furniture a bit tired but passable. Worth staying here as you are away from the noise and riff raff of the Zona Viva but close by to go to meetings and meals. Free airport transfers are a real plus. Great location.

This hotel exceeded our expections. We stayed for a total of 5 nights in a room that overlooked the airport and volcanos. Beautiful view. Room was clean attractive and everything worked. Good beds. Good TV. Good security. We were glad to have a safe in the room and free access to an internet cafe in the business center. We used the complimentary shuttle service several times including a couple of times to the airport and then a couple more times to and from a bus station in Zona 1 (shuttle waited for us at the bus depot!) Reception was very helpful. Our only complaint was the hotel travel desk. The person staffing it didn't speak Spanish well and spoke almost no English. Seemed a bit ridiculous. Why bother.

I think if you contact the hotel manager he will send a shuttle for you. When we were there, there was a shuttle running from the hotel to the airport every 15-30 minutes so getting back to the airport was no problem.

I regretfully do not have an answer to your question. Actually, I was not even aware of it. You can call the hotel directly and they will inform you of the reason for the additional fee.

That is a definite yes. Simply ask the front desk clerk. They were very happy to be of service, as were the bellmen who remembered when I returned that I had a suitcase in storage. Hppy travels.

If you talk to the hotel they will probably help. As the hotel overlooks the airport, a taxi is also possible.
