I love this hotel. It is only 15 minutes from the airport, they will pick you up and take you to the airport. Nice comfortable simple rooms. The staff will bend backwards to make you feel comfortable and at home. The breakfast is typical Guatemalan. I’ve visited Guatemala City several times and stayed in other hotels but I prefer this one to others because it’s quiet, small, safe, close to the airport but most of all because the staff is very friendly and welcoming.

We stayed 2 nights in Hotel Ciudad Vieja. We were in room 108 on the ground floor. The room had 2 double beds, TV, phone, 1 hard chair and table, another chair by the "desk" (see pictures), and 2 lounge chairs.
There was not much light in the room. Most came from lighting near the ceiling, that went around the walls.
The bed was rather hard, and it had a fluffy blanket (comforter), which I don't like.
The bathroom had a shower only.
The hotel is nothing to look at on the outside, but in true Spanish style, there are courtyards and a very lovely setting inside.
The staff were all friendly, and even though some struggled with English, they were speaking more English, that I was Spanish, so I'm not going to complain.
We ate all our meals here, and they were good. It was a surprise to get a complementary cup of soup with our meals. But the included breakfast (which they give you a ticket for) was quite good.
They made a special small breakfast for me, when we asked for it, as I was going on a tour that picked up at the hotel between 4:30 and 4:45 AM.
Another interesting thing about this hotel was that our car was parked out front, in their parking lot. But they notified us later in the day, that I had to move the car to their fenced in parking lot in back. Apparently safety is taken seriously at this hotel.
We would stay here again.

Great location. Restaurant in hotel plus several others across the street. Quiet. Wonderful staff. Beautiful grounds. Small and very relaxed spot. I would stay here again. Hot water. Felt safe and secure. Nice area with tables and chairs for beer and vine.

We stayed one night in this hotel, not far from the airport, as recommended by the "Lonely Planet". Our experience is not bad, but needs to be qualified: friendly staff, pretty flowered patio which "cuts off" the city, and we feel safe there (reinforced doors, security guard). We wanted to dine there, but we were informed that the restaurant only did sandwiches in the evening (usual? exceptional? I don't know); In the end there are 2 restaurants across the street and that's where we went. We were charged for wifi, certainly a small fee, but it seemed to us that it was free. a member of staff does indeed provide a shuttle to the nearby airport, but it seems to us that it was expensive: 18 USD (considering the prices during our entire stay in Guatemala). The room was probably a little more basic than I thought, firm bed, poor soundproofing (we could hear the neighbor's conversation in her room), and the window didn't close. Bathroom also quite basic with no storage around the sink. In the end, we slept well, but it didn't seem easy at first given the hardness of the mattresses. The breakfast was good, the breakfast room would benefit from being redecorated, it is very (too?) sober, a little sad.

We stayed here on three separate occasions on this visit to Central America - five days in February as we went down with flu on arrival! The staff were most attentive, and helpful. Most of the staff speak English. The rooms - we've experienced three rooms on the three separate visits! - all bright and airy, extremely clean with crisp white bed linen and towels. Rooms near the road can be a bit noisy. Bathrooms are small, with shampoo, conditioner, soaps etc provided. Plenty of hot water at any time of day. Breakfast was more than adequate - fresh fruit platter, juice, breads to help yourself, and eggs either fried or scrambled come with the usual beans, plantains, cheese. The hotel restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. The hotel is about 20 - 30 minutes away from the airport, in fact the yellow cab fare going to the airport in the morning was Q30. At night it is at least double this fare. It is walking distance to other touristy shops, a few restaurants and hotels. Good wifi. The reception is manned 24 hours. On the whole, we enjoyed our stay at Ciudad Vieja and recommend it highly to anyone looking for a small, homely, and unpretentious hotel.

We had stayed at the Hotel Ciudad Vieja ten years ago and loved it; this was our first opportunity to go back. And it was just lovely! The staff is very attentive, the rooms are well appointed and clean, the breakfast is great! The style of the hotel is colonial, built around a garden patio. The hotel is in a quiet area, a good walk from the Zona Viva. But, a rental car takes care of that issue. Meals can be taken either in the inside restaurant area or the patio restaurant area, your choice. We look forward to returning!

This hotel is a find! Room108 was very clean, had two double beds, ample ceiling, floor, and night table lighting. Hot water takes a few minutes to come on. Staff are friendly and helpful. Most speak English ranging from excellent to minimal.
Hotel has lots of plants in the courtyard and does feel like an oasis. The dinner we had in the restaurant consisted of very freshly prepared pesto pasta and a club sandwich and a Caesar salad. A nice touch was the complementary small cup of soup served.
Prices for the hotel and the restaurant are quite reasonable. Definitely recommend this place especially if travelling to the airport.

This is a small, familiar place, with nice gardens and an good old Guatemalan ambience rooms... service personnel really makes the effort to attend your needs and if you don’t have high expectations they usually succeed. however, f the nature of your trip is business, I would not suggest to stay here. The rooms have not lights in the ceiling, so they are very dark, WiFi quality is very poor and there are not enough power outlets.
They have not gym, and bathroom seats are the size of a kid.
I’m very convinced that we need to favor small businesses for our economies to grow, but I’m also convinced that the owners of small businesses need to be aware of their improvement areas so they can make their business flourish. They have a responsibility to their customers and employees.
Having said that, I wouldn’t return on a business trip.

The rooms are comfortable but they are a bit dark, there are no lights on the ceiling, just lamps. Wifi was terrible while we were there (we were a large group in the hotel). Bathroom was clean and nice. Staff is very helpful and polite. Breakfast is ok and the food from the restaurant is very good.

A perfect cozy, quiet and well located hotel. The rooms are very clean and comfortable; Spanish decor flowing beautifully throughout the entire place. Excellent hotel for either business or vacation; close to everything.
Beautiful and well kept garden lays very pleasantly in front of all rooms. At the restaurant, while you will enjoy deliciously prepared meals, you will also enjoy the pleasant view of humming birds kissing the flowers outside the window.
Service is wonderful. A very courteous staff is always ready to ensure you a very nice stay.
Will come again, definitely. Don't even want to try anywhere else! A home far from home.
