I have stayed at the Hotel Pan American on four separate occasions over the last twelve months whilst working on a project in Guatemala. I can't recommend this hotel enough - the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating, the rooms are clean and functional, the food (in particular the breakfast) is delicious and the location is very convenient for the...

This was a fantastic WW11 hotel near the capital building. It is easy to imagine the deals made here during the early days of banana, sugar and coffee trade. It as atrium restaurant with old world giant chandelier. Tip: Great Coconut Cream Pie. Rooms are simple and clean. Staff speaks English and well and Spanish.

Classic Old hotel in the heart of the old town. Elevator for baggage not regular passengers. Traditional Guatemalan food in restaurant. Lots of restaurants in area that you can walk too. Rooms very plain, bathrooms old style.

What can you say about this iconic hotel! Very old and sort of rundown but in a well-preserved and beautiful way. Room was very small and even though the window was shut the noise from the road outside was horrendous. Bathroom minimum but everything worked. Water hot and shower pressure good. Beds small but in spite of noise had a...

The hotel is in old town by the square so it's got that going for it. Our room was about as small as it could be. Just large enough to fit a twin bed and an armoire. Tiny bathroom too. No A/C, just a ceiling fan that goes whamp-whamp-whamp all night. Food was okay, service a bit slow.

Before we traveled I read somewhere that you should go straight to Antigua from the Guatemala City airport. After our month long trek through Guatemala, Chiapas and Tabasco I have to say I agree. We stayed at the Pan American, which was very well located. It wasn't... bad... it just wasn't... good. It got us through out one and only...

This is a great location in central downtown Guatemala City, hard to beat it. And it's not bad value for money. Rooms vary, some are nice and large, others smaller, some have TV, others don't. The whole place has an old-fashioned feel to it, the fittings must be original 1940s. There is free wifi, laundry service, a restaurant. I wasn't...

Interesting looking if rather gloomy hotel. Mattress much too unsupportive and contained bugs which inflicted about thirty bites on my right side during one night's sleep. Handy for the main square and for those interested in old style hotels otherwise not recommended.

While I was in Zone 1 of Guatemala City, I took the opportunity to visit Pan American Hotel. I was curious. After all, this is a famous landmark of early 20th Century history of the city --especially of the downtown area. I went to visit the hotel, hoping that it would look absolutely wonderful, taking me back to the 1940's...
