Wholeheartedly recommend this hotel! It's a quaint inn off the main roads of Guatemala City. It's quiet, cozy with delicious home-cooked meals and warm, welcoming staff. They took awesome care of me as a single woman traveler. Made sure I was safe and knew where I was going. The decor and artifacts there are breathtaking!

This hotel is located in the Centro Historico (zona1) of Guatemala City and is in a relatively safe area. The place doesn't look like much from the outside, and it's on a smaller street. However, the interior is lovely with a small courtyard garden and pet turtles. The rooms are spacious and equipped with antique furniture, local textiles, and Guatemalan...

13 church members spent 6 nights here while on a mission trip. The staff was fabulous--friendly and competent. The food was delicious--ask for the pancakas! The B&B was clean and we felt safe. We had wi-fi, free calls to the USA, in-house laundry, and I must mention the food again! Juan, Nilo, and Rafael took great care of our group....

The Posada Belen is on a little sidestreet in Zona 1. It has some nice garden courtyards. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The best thing is the staff. They are super-friendly and helpful. The front door is kept locked (you have to buzz, and they come to open the door.) The staff was always very welcoming, even when I...

It's like home with all the antique furnishings, our rooms had no windows which was a little dark. It's centrally located and easy walking around the old town of Guatemala City, Zona 1, felt safe walking, it was holy week and lots of processions and people in area. The church is lovely and the Museum was closed. We had dinner...

This Hotel is a good place for this kind of vacation trip that you spent the hole day in the different tours and when you go back to the hotel you feel like in your house - Quiet but close to the action. Rooms are clean, cozy and with unique historical touches that make a place seem that much nicer....

I spent a total of three nights at Posada Belen Museo Inn. Juan and Nilo were just fantastic. They were helpful in pointing out areas to visit. They also are excellent cooks at the restaurant there. I had carrot soup, pork chops, rice, and bread and it was delicious. Posada Belen is in Zone 1 and you have to be...

After 20 years away from Guate's Zona 1, I returned last week(2/19 and 2/26/11), this time with my 13 year old daughter, to stay for a night coming and a night leaving the country at Posada Belen. The stay was magical for us both. The hotel is a former home and it truly is homey, filled with antique furniture, paintings...

Just returned with 14 friends from our yearly trek to the Maya world, and stayed at Posada Belen. This is my third time. The beautiful home dating to the 1800s in Zona 1, downtown, opens its welcoming arms where you immediately feel at home. They always have the rooms assigned and without any questions take our luggage to our rooms....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Posada Belen is located in a fine colonial style home built in 1873 converted into an intimate Museum Inn, centrally located in a quiet street of the historical center of Guatemala City about 3 miles north from the airport (10-15 Minutes), run by the same family since opened in 1972 to international tourism. Posada Belen was slowly transformed from a colonial style home into a very special inn. Highly recommended in most important travel guides and by former guests/friends, with over 300 authentic registered Mayan artifacts on display as well as unique antique handicrafts plus many primitive paintings makes Posada Belen a true Museum, but most of all we are a clean, safe, centrally located, quiet, moderately priced, with good beds, great food, friendly relaxed atmosphere, and authentic HOME to start, end or organize your journey in Guatemala. We are conveniently located to visit any of the museums in Guatemala city, walk to the relief map, national palace, central market (lowest prices in the country for handcrafts), visit the pre classic Mayan ruins and museum of Kaminal Juyu, dozens of monumental churches , We are blocks away from the bus stations to Tikal, Xela, Antigua, Coban, Chiquimula, Rio Dulce. Etc. Shuttles are also available from the inn door. Guided walking City tour is available, Guatemala city is important if you really want to understand our culture and its history. We will be happy to help you with your itinerary and up to date travel and safety information. The Posada Belen is especially safe for women traveling alone. We have a pick up service available at any hour of day or night to all persons who will like to have a friendly and safe welcome into Guatemala's airport for about the same price as a taxi (depending on the arrival time from $10 to $15), we know we are not for everybody, our clients are usually smart people with lots of travel experience, who are looking for comfortably way to enjoy true Guatemalan culture and also likes to stay in a place with character. ... more   less
