We only stayed one night. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. The dorms were comfortable. I don't know if there's loud music every night but we were kept awake by just a small group of people playing loud music until 3 am. I don't know what the neighbours must think. It's an ideal place if you want to have...

Thanks so much for your review. I am really sorry about the noise. We do have a reputation for fun and frivolity that is justified, but the reality is that the majority of our guests are not crazy party people and we do have policies for turning down the noise late at night so that everyone can get a decent...

Casa De la Iguana has an awesome staff who really try to make you feel welcome. The prices are in line with most hostel prices in the area. 10 US for a dorm room. The venue is nice and the little bar on site is very fun. Goo international challenges and if you like to party you wont be alone...

This newly renovated hostel was a pleasure to stay at and good value . The accommodation is "hut" type I had a solo room which was comfortable , newish bed and linen , powerful fan and well netted including personal " over the bed " net . The communal evening meal was excellent on both my nights . The volunteer...

Good food! Easy going! Neat place to stay. Would definitely stay here again. They have everything you need. Take a tour, enjoy a drink, grab dinner. It's all right there. Wifi too! They made us feel right at home, and were great to get to know.

I had a great time staying at The Iguana. The place is run by volunteer staff from all over who are very helpful and always available to answer questions. They offer family style dinners for a reasonable price and at night have fun games that really help you get to know your fellow travelers. Despite the fact that the hostel...

Been volunteering here for just over a month at present and couldn't be more in love with the place. Located on a small island full of life and culture, the Iguana offers a little traveller's haven a 5 minute walk away from the idyllic town proper. Every night there's a cheap family style dinner cooked by a couple of local...

So this is my first stay at Casa de la Iguana.....first and foremost I have to say the staff and atmosphere is great. Coming here and knowing that it was a party hostel I was prepared for loud music and perhaps some drunken debauchery. So I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived they reiterated this fact and told me that...

We stayed for two nights in a private double room and both nights were kept awake by the noise of two mice going through our snacks. Volunteers were nice and welcoming, owner lady not so much as she just ordered one of the volunteers to help with our request without even looking at us. The rum and coke was served...

Thank you very much for the review. I am extremely concerned about your comment that you were told the cost was 120Q per person. It is not. The cost is 120Q for the room, not per person. Me and my friend were here for two nights. The vibe of the place is great and it looks really nice! Staff was friendly. We stayed in a dorm room, which was a bit too cramped for me. It also didn't feel very clean. Mosquito nets (if they were present) were quite damaged so not very useful. Showers and toilets...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Casa de la Iguana is a fabulously famous party hostel for fun and friendly happy travellers. It is set in a jungle garden with awesome wooden cabins and dormitories all unique and worth the extra Q for a good nights sleep. We may not be the cheapest in Livingston but we pride ourselves on having handmade lockers in each dorm, comfortable beds, spacious private rooms, superb wifi for Skyping and calls home, great social staff and fantastic fun most evenings, especially when a lively Happy Hour involved. There is fantastic free wifi. the best in Livingston actually, as well as an international book exchange. We also arrange tours to Belize, La Ceiba, Siete Altares, Playa Blanca and Rio Dulce and recently added, our own very exciting Tiger Cave trip and Fishing (eat what you catch). Spanish Lessons available too. We have a great reputation for our parties but it happens when we have a great bunch of people too! Come see us soon, meet other like-minded free spirits. ... more   less
