The staff were courteous and the ladies in the kitchen were fantastic. I spent three nights here and they cooked whatever I wanted, regardless of the menu. Easy walk to the main square and there are lots of restaurants around it. The place has been a hotel for more than a century. The decor was befitting a hotel with that...

Old hotel with rooms around 2 patios. The staff is very friendly. We arrived without a reservation and could get a room for the night, situated at the patio furthest from reception. A bit later, they could confirm we could stay a second night. Breakfast - with a fresh juice - included. When we arrived, the person at reception gave...

I stayed at Hotel Modelo for one night. The manager (Jose?) was very nice. My bus arrived in the evening, and he was kind enough to send a taxi to pick me up. That was nice. Next, I requested a "quiet room" and was put in a room NEXT TO the kitchen, and across from the hotel restaurant. It was...

Very few hotels in the world have the spirit of true hospitality, when you feel like you are at home. Here I felt wholeheartedly welcomed. Spent four days in Xela visiting a relative and needed a comfortable, place to stay. The rooms were a bit musty and the beds were rock hard. They charged for more than a single bottle of water a day, which was a suprise. Breakfast was good and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. Understand that you are in Xela...

Nearly everything was wonderful at the Hotel Modelo. The staff were extremely gracious and helpful. We were provided unlimited pure drinking water which was greatly appreciated. The dining area was a great example of classic Xela charm. Breakfast was delicious with many great options and service was outstanding all around. The wi-fi generally worked well in the halls and lobby...

This hotel has been operated by a family for three generations, and is a great place to stay in Xela (also known as Quetzaltenango). The rooms are spacious and clean, and have recently added flat screen TV's and upgraded amenities. The included breakfasts are very good and made to order (eggs, bacon, sausage, omelets, fresh juices, fresh fruit, yogurt, etc.)....
