Please read other reviews, they are all accurate in their description. Yes that hotel is old and desperately needs investment and refurbishment. The staff are not great and general service is poor. However, I love this place. The history, the quite spaces in the garden, the small and intimate bar and the location. If you want bland 5 star US... More

The hotel is well situated, close to the city-center. Let's start with the positive: the hotel has a nice gym, relatively large, unfortunately many machines are broken and the free weights are very limited. The 2nd star I granted is for the dinner I had in the hotel: both the traditional as well as the Chinese Restaurant serve food of... More

My worst ever hotel experience from start to finish. The hotel forget to send a car to collect me from the airport causing me to wait for over an hour. No apology and only shrugged shoulders from the lady manning the hotels desk at the airport, the driver or the check in staff. The hotel clearly has a grand past... More

Stayed here for business for 3 nights while in Algiers. The hotel is going through renovations so there's a temporary access to the lobby through the cafe door. This place feels super safe! A metal detectors and access barricade make the hotel feel fortress like. Decoration of common areas is typical for the period with lots of details nooks and... More

Check in Upon trying to check in, it became apparent that my booking, which was made by telephone was none existent and it had never been put on the system. It took over an hour to realise that we were not going to make any progress as they refused to accept payment from our corporate travel agency. They wanted a... More

I've stayed here a few times and always love to sit on the terrace and gardens with a beer or a coffee. The gardens are lovely. The rooms well equipped and modern. Breakfast...what can I say? It's North Africa so don't expect a full English so it is that standard North African fare. The meals are inexpensive (especially if you... More

I stayed two nights at this comfortable hotel. The room that I occupied was large and overlooked a large garden. The hotel is equipped with all the comforts that you needed. There are also two restaurants. one with international cuisine and another one with Chinese cuisine. I only tried the international cuisine successfully. In the hotel also serve alcool.

On the one hand, on the other hand... If you prefer historic properties with charm to new-world international chain hotels, you will enjoy El-Djazair. I have stayed here four times, and enjoyed my visits. Set in an old Ottoman-era estate, with gardens all around, it evokes some of the Humphrey Bogart, Casablanca effect. Both Churchill and Eisenhower stayed here. The... More

In one phrase the beauty of this place is on its past. The present offers a terrible, state-type of lethargic experience. Rooms are very old. Even the old wooden door does not close. Bathroom is a mess without style. It gets all flooded after shower. Breakfast. You can't call that a breakfast. The only fruit I saw were apples and... More
