Lovely calm riad in the midst of the Marrakech craziness. A beautiful building - and nice rooms - but what really makes this riad stand out is the staff - and the measures they go to in looking out for you.

Hotel's Favourite
Let me begin by stating that yes, the hype is real. And it is well-deserved. Riad Kheirredine is the pinnacle of what any luxury boutique hotel strives to be: unique, intimate, welcoming, and specific to its place in the world. Marrakech seems to have a wealth of 5-star Riads, Dars, hotels, and resorts, so it was a challenge choosing just the right one for our first visit to the city. Our travel agent strongly recommended staying in the Medina over one of the larger luxury hotels outside the ancient walls, and we were so glad we heeded her advice. It was one of the most interesting hotel experiences we’ve had anywhere! The pre-arrival service was exceptional. I booked the “Imperial Dream Package” that came with a myriad of inclusions: Imperial Suite accommodations, arrival and departure airport transfers, Fast Track service upon arrival, romantic set-up of the room, champagne, a bouquet of flowers, a half-day guided tour of the Medina, a romantic dinner on the first night, and a Royal Pack hammam and massage. Jana was in frequent contact with me to take the deposit by telephone, secure our flight details, and arrange dates and times for dinners and tours we requested to take. Any email inquiries were responded to promptly and courteously. Upon arrival at RAK, we were met by a Fast Track agent, whisked through passport control, escorted to the baggage carousel, and brought through an expedited lane for baggage screening. This made for a very easy entry. Our driver was located just outside the terminal (drivers from the larger hotels are permitted to meet guests inside the terminal, so don’t be alarmed). And within a few minutes, we were on our way into the city. The driver brought us into the Medina and to the closest entrance to the hotel. From there, a hotel representative loaded our unwieldy luggage (this was our first stop on a three-week vacation) into a cart, and a young man nimbly maneuvered through the twisting alleyways as the hotel representative told us about the area. As others have written, you would never believe that down a narrow corridor and behind an antique wooden door exists a literal oasis of peace, luxury, and light. Gurgling fountains, majestic palms, and chirping birds make an immediately welcoming and relaxing impression. We were offered cool towels, lemonade, and fresh fruit while we completed the check-in process. The main courtyard is stunning, with so many sumptuous nooks in which to relax: sofas, chairs, daybeds…the options are endless. The absolutely delightful Siham (she is a treasure!) gave us a tour of the hotel’s public spaces (lounges, restaurant, two pools, and multi-level rooftop terrace), and brought us to the Sandal Suite that would be our home for the next four nights. I don’t think the suite could have been any more Moroccan—it certainly provided us with a dramatic “sense of place.” There was a large walk-in closet with plenty of shelves and hanging space for the contents of our enormous suitcases; a cozy living room with loveseat, chair, fireplace, television, safe, and minibar); a good-sized bedroom with a king-sized four poster bed draped in exotic embroidered silks; and a generous tiled bathroom with claw foot tub, double sinks, walk-in rainfall shower, and separate water closet. Just off the living room is a terrace with a pillow-bedecked daybed and a dining table with two chairs. There are curtains that could be drawn for privacy if necessary, but who would want to block out the view of the impressive architecture and charming courtyard below? The room had been magnificently decked out for us with rose petals *everywhere*, and candles lit throughout the bathroom and floating in the bath which had already been drawn. There was an arrangement of three dozen reflexed roses on the table in the living room, a generous bowl of mixed fruit, a welcome bottle of good Champagne on ice, a few Moroccan pastries and cookies under a glass cloche, and a selection of two types of nuts. It was the most over-the-top welcome we’ve ever received. We opened the Champagne and toasted our excellent choice of hotel, unpacked, and enjoyed some of the pastries and nuts. A couple of hours later, we went up to the rooftop for our multi-course Moroccan dinner and found ourselves in yet another rose-petal-carpeted fantasy. Yassine was our waiter (as he would be so many times during our stay), and he couldn’t do enough for us. He asked for our preferences, took our cocktail orders, and began bringing out course after course of delicious offerings. With the setting sun and the calls-to-prayer echoing off the rooftops from all corners of the Medina, it was a perfect first night in Morocco. We slept well in the comfortable bed (the suite was so quiet), but we found the pillows surprisingly old and flimsy, so we asked for some plumper ones to be brought up for the next night. We chose to have breakfast in our room on the terrace, and it was served quickly and efficiently. We found the “first course” offerings so substantial that we never ordered anything else. The freshly-pressed orange juice was so good that it has ruined me forever for any other kind of orange juice! We also enjoyed the pastries that varied each day, the sliced fruit (the watermelon here is so good!), yogurt, and perfect coffee and latte macchiatos. After the first morning, there was no need to repeat our order. It came promptly at the same time each day. We also enjoyed a light lunch at the hotel one afternoon beside the ground level pool. It’s a lovely setting, the food was delicious, and the service friendly and prompt. That became a running theme for our entire stay. Anytime I called down to the front desk, the phone was answered within one ring and any request fulfilled in minutes. Escorts to and from the hotel were always available, and we greatly appreciated that the hotel also organized our taxi rides with repeatable drivers to and from any dinner reservations. Each suite comes with its own cellphone with pre-programmed numbers, WhatsApp, and data for internet searches. This proved such a great convenience, and it’s one we’ve never had offered to us at any other hotel before! The two excursions we booked through the hotel were terrific. The three-hour guided tour of the Souk on our first morning was an excellent way to get oriented with the area and learn more about Moroccan history and culture. Our full-day excursion to the Atlas Mountains was with a wonderfully knowledgeable and charismatic driver, but we weren’t prepared or dressed for a precarious hike up a steep and rocky trail to view a mediocre waterfall. I would have rather spent more time wandering the village of Toubkal. After the hike, we were dropped off at the jaw-droppingly gorgeous Kasbah Tamadot for a delicious lunch and tour of the facilities. That alone was worth the 90 minute drive from Marrakech. What a spectacular place! After we returned from the tour my partner went for the included hammam ritual and massage (I passed on mine, as that’s not something I enjoy). He was gone for over two hours and returned relaxed, glowing, and full of praise for the two spa attendants who conducted his treatments. On our second last afternoon we had an unfortunate experience on our way back to the Riad. We thought we could navigate there ourselves, got lost, and were identified as easy marks by a shady character who insisted on leading us back to Riad Kheirredine, saying he knew the owner, “Miss Marina.” Once we got to the entrance of the hotel, he demanded money from us, and when my partner reluctantly gave him 30 dirhams, he became aggressive and demanded more. I pressed the buzzer at the door and we were let in and he disappeared. Later that evening, two staff members insisted on escorting us to our taxi to dinner just in case he showed up again. He didn’t then, but sure enough, upon our return, as I stepped out of the taxi, he materialized out of nowhere and sneered, “Remember me?” While he argued with my partner about not being paid for his “services,” I messaged the hotel that we were being harassed at the taxi drop off. An employee came rushing over in less than five minutes and defused the situation, but it was unsettling nonetheless and an unpleasant experience with which to end our time in Marrakech. Despite that incident, and some similar near-misses with the same types of characters in the markets, we enjoyed our stay at Riad Kheirredine so much; it really was a dream come true. On our last full day we were able to have all of our used laundry done at no charge (and it was returned pristine and professionally folded), and they allowed us to remain in our suite until we had to leave for the airport in the mid-afternoon. It made for such an easy and relaxing departure! I just cannot imagine a better hotel for someone’s first visit to Marrakech—and for subsequent visits as well. We have never felt so genuinely cared for by a hotel’s staff. “Bravo!” to whoever does the hospitality training here; it is truly world-class.

Our stay at the riad was simply perfect. We honestly have never experienced service like this in any other hotel, especially in this price range. The personnel was so kind and caring and took every effort to improve your experience. It immediately felt like home and was a welcome oasis of calm inside the busy streets of Marrakech. The restaurant was exceptional and the best traditional food we had all trip. The Hammam was relaxing and took away any remaining stress. We especially enjoyed the breakfast on the roof top watching the sun rise with everything being homemade. The staff also overtook our whole planning of the week and organized everything we were interested in. They even give you a smart phone with 4G, WhatsApp and GoogleMaps and if you still weren’t able to find your way „home“ you could send your location and they would just come and pick you up. We would definitely recommend it!

Before arriving in Morocco we researched many Riads when trying to choose where to stay in Marrakech and the choose was overwhelming. We finally made the decision to book Riad Kheirredine for 3 nights and we are so glad we did. This Riad has so many amazing qualities that would take me a long time to list, but what stood out to us the most was definitely the people. The amazing way all of the staff at the Riad communicated seamlessly with each other to ensure they knew every single guest, which room we were staying, what activities we had planned as well as assisting with any other requests we had. They made it feel like nothing was ever any trouble. The food we ate at the Riad was outstanding. The breakfast that is included every day was always fresh and it was all homemade and so delicious. The beds were very comfortable and our room was very spacious and beautifully decorated. The cleanliness of the rooms and all public areas was a perfect 10 out of 10. The extra little free inclusions like giving you a mobile phone that you can use to call them at any time if you’re lost and they will send someone from the Riad to come and get you, or getting your clothes washed and ironed in the same day was such a treat, even the fresh fruit in the room and in all the public spaces was unexpected but a nice touch for us to enjoy. I will be telling people for a very long time about our experience at Riad Kheirredine. A special shout out to Elena, the breakfast staff and the whole team for making our time at the Riad feel like we never wanted to leave. We absolutely loved every minute of our stay.

Me and my partner had an incredible stay at this amazing hotel. We couldn’t believe the level of attention and care from the staff and the hotel itself is beautiful. It is such a relaxing place to stay which smells amazing, the breakfast, food and drinks are great, there is always someone at hand to offer you or provide you with something. We had delicious Moroccan tea’s, natural lemonade and mint drinks, coffees all free of charge. This along with all the services and various areas to sit and relax in the hotel make it such a perfect peaceful spot in the city. The pool and rooftop area has amazing views and is great for sunrise or sunset, our room was always kept perfectly from the maid staff and we always had someone on hand to help. Above all the details and lovely touches in the hotel, the best thing of all had to be the fantastic service and care from the staff. They helped us from day one with the recommendations and information on our first stay in Marrakech. That along with the friendly guides that help you navigate the city and the hotel phone they provide with constant quick response via WhatsApp or calling, and the use of hot spotting the internet for your own phone, you really couldn’t ask for more. The biggest compliment we could pay is that we felt they did everything possible to make our stay in Marrakech as tailored and perfect for what suited us, inside and outside the hotel. We think it would be potentially difficult to have the same level of experience without their help. We really couldn’t recommend the hotel enough and despite it being slightly further out from the Medina, with the guides who walk you into the city and can provide some great recommendations and local knowledge, along with the general level of attention and help you receive, it really makes it a unique stay. We’d love to return at some point. Thanks again to everyone there
