We spent a very enjoyable 3 nights at Dar Fakir to celebrate my birthday in Marrakech. The Riad is perfectly situated in the Medina and within walking distance to the main square and the souk. My group hired the whole Riad which was perfect as it has a very beautiful homely feel. The staff went out of there way to...

We (myself and 6 female friends) chose this riad as our last stop on our mini adventure around Morocco (we stayed in several places in Marrakech and Essaouira) and were very glad we did slightly sunburnt and tired from our 3 hour coach journey from the beach this was the quiet, beautiful and relaxing place we were looking for. It's...

Thank you for your feedback it's great to hear that you enjoyed the riad and our breakfast so much and I remember your group very well. We are used to receiving young guest especially after having featured in "Made in Chelsea" and make absolutely no difference with the treatment in terms of age. On the contrary to us it felt...

The best thing about Dar Fakir is Houda, the assistant manager who went out of her way to make our stay comfortable. Located perfectly in the Medina and within walking distance to the square, the Souk and the palaces, the Dar Fakir boasts a wonderful cook who produced an absolutely gorgeous meal. However, we were very disappointed to find, when...

Thank you for the feedback and it is great to hear you appreciated the help of our staff. As you told us during your stay you did not enjoy Marrakech on a whole which was the reason for your early departure. At the time of sending guests the reservation form we always include our T&C's which clearly state "No show...

Amazing beautiful boutique accommodation. Having not stayed in a riad before we didn't know what to expect but it didn't felt homely not locking your room and wandering to one of the relaxing areas to chill or read. Very calming relaxing place to stay. Marrakech was not my cup of tea unfortunately as it was the total opposite to the...

We stayed 4 nights (5 days) in May 2012 and really liked this Riad! Never stayed in Morroco before and was a llttle concerned due to the reputation this city had---- no need to even think about that, you will find the people in the city are lovely, the food really good (and if you check out prices and the...

Thoroughly recommended. As locals in Morocco we come back time and time again to this veritable oasis amidst the Marrakech medina. Central to Jema El Fna, souks, restaurants and the main sites, Dar Fakir is one of Marrakech's hidden delights. We recently hosted a small party for a number of international guests and booked the entire riad. Impeccable service, warm...

Thank you very much. We loved hosting the party for you and are very happy to hear that we managed to make the Birthday celebrations as special as they should be. It is after all your day. We look forward to welcoming you again in future.

We stayed four nights at the end of februar and it was ..... wonderful. Dar Fakir is really a oasis in the middle of the medina. And their hospitality is more than every five star hotel could serve. it´s personal, charming and in fact amazing, what Kerstin and Houda are offering. From the first warm welcome with "The la menthe"...

Dar Fakir is a calm oasis in a very central position and we have no hesitation in recommending it. We stayed for 4 nights for my birthday at the end of March. It is a very short walk from the main square. I am renowned for my lack of internal sat nav, but I amazed myself by finding my way...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Dar Fakir is a Riad de Charme located just 3 mins walk from Djema el Fnaa square. It reopened at the beginning of 2011 to visitors after a complete refurbishment. We differ from other riads in the sence that we offer an extensive service over other riads including not only the normal cooking courses but yoga, artisanal workshops and a very intimate service bordering onto concierge at very affordable rates. We provide extras such as meet and greet throughout your stay if required by our security guard during the evenings and at night. Mobile phones are provided to guests on request and are free of charge during their stay. We spend a lot of time with the guests making them feel welcome in the riad but also at home in the hectic maze of the Marrakech Medina. In total 5 languages are spoken in the riad - English, German, Swedish, French and the local Arabic, Darija. The rooms all have individually embroided bed linen made from Egyptian Cotton. The toiletries provided by Sence de Marrakech are Shower gel, Body lotion, shampoo and hand soap. For the Suite we can provide black soap and a gommage flannel. All rooms and Suites are decorated in elegant beige tadelakt on the walls as well as in the bathrooms. The floors have terracotta zellige. Rooms and Suites are furnished with traditional dark wood furniture in traditional berber style. The suites in addition have beautiful leather clad writing desks that tastefully match the decor. You will experience the ambience of arabian night in the evening when the handcrafted lamps and lanterns cast magical shadows on the walls. ... more   less
