Gordon and staff really make you at home. Rooms are comfortable and well-equipped, and the hotel has many cosy corners to relax in including a lovely rooftop terrace that catches a breeze. Restaurant offers good meals and choice of wines. Good location in the peninsula. It was the perfect place to spend a long weekend, rest and catch up on...

The owner, Gordon, is really making sure you'll get what you need to make your stay as comfortable as possible, being very discreet at the same time. For our first visit in Dar es Salaam, it was reassuring to have the taxi organized by the hotel, and everything went perfectly smoothly. + The hotel, the dining room for breakfast, the...

Went following personal recommendation. Found it using google maps, which took me right outside the Hotel but the outer exterior is so low key, I then drove around looking for a Hotel entrance. On finding it, we were told to park in the street by some disinterested Maasai guards, despite subsequently finding that there is space inside to park. Went...

My husband and I went there for our wedding anniversary after some word of mouth recommendations but I need to say that wasn't very good. The first impression when you go inside is very nice, nice arquitecture , nice house, looked promising! The wine list is not very impressive for one place that has a such a nice cellar and...

This is a small and exceptionally friendly hotel with an excellent and accommodating proprietor (Gordon). I have stayed here many times on business in the last year, and much prefer it to the larger hotels nearby. The food is good and well prepared, and they have an excellent covered terrace on the roof for eating, drinking or working. Rooms are...

In Dar for a few days business, really just looking for a clean, comfortable place to stay. Alexander's was comfortable and hospitable. The public area/bar was very pleasant although better lighting would make working much easier. Bedrooms were adequate, however the bathrooms could do with a fresh coat of paint and a good scrub. Unfortunately during the 3 night stay,...

My now wife and I were heading out to Tanzania to get married, we were on a bit of a budget and needed somewhere to stay in Dar for a couple of days while we waited for a lift inland. We found Alexander's on tripadvisor with no reviews, but it was in the right location and prices were very reasonable...

I have stayed here a number of times. You can keep your large chain hotels that provide a templated style. Alexanders is a family run boutique hotel that hits the spot. It is no more expensive but has a wonderful ambience. The pool is admitedly small and there is no gym. But there is good wifi. We recently held a...

Alexanders was a welcome slice of heaven after a long and dusty car ride down from the Kenya border. It is an unassuming oasis of cool, calm rooms surrounding a beautiful deep blue pool. The rooms are clean and the beds very comfortable, ideal for catching up on some much needed sleep! The restaurant and rooftop bar are simple and...
