Appears that this hotel was recently renovated. The room and pool area are both super nice. Breakfast was of a very high quality (on site food was quite pricey). I would thoroughly recommend. Staff were pleasant and very helpful and they gave us a v late checkout.

In Tanzania for a two week business trip and enjoyed the Dar-es-Salaam Serena as our base. A good product: presently undergoing a refurb in the public areas (new seafood restaurant off the main lobby) and the hotel's main dinning facility temporarily housed in a well appointed marquee. Rooms are comfortable: staff incredible...

We stayed here one night due to a snafu. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was clean but the air conditioning was very inefficient. A call got a technician who improved it but it still was inadequate. The hotel is undergoing renovation and the restaurant required walking outside, which was ok. Our light supper was only fair....

I stay at the Serena on business with relative frequency and I can only that as the time has gone by the hotel has maintained the level of its wonderful service and staff. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with all the amenities. The air conditioners could stand a renewal as the air is not very cold and during the...

Visited the Serena for 3 nights while travelling through East Africa. Hotel is under going massive renovations but this did not compromise service (including dining). Spa was good value for money and it has an excellent fitness centre. Outdoor pool bar was a lovely place to sit in the evening with a good selection of decently priced cocktails. Room was...

In terms of service, I was impressed by the cleaning staff, but there was much room for improvement for the front-office staff. Firstly, I asked someone to help me get a taxi. The price was about 2-3x more expensive than if you were to negotiate with them outside the hotel walls. They should have reliable and reasonable taxi drivers on...

This hotel used to be the best in Dar -- a beautiful park like setting, but a physical infrastructure that desperately needs more than a cosmetic overhaul. The top floor is the Club floor and it was so hot -- and the air conditioning so pitiful, I left early and checked into the Kili (Hyatt)!
