After a very long day of game driving, we arrived to smiling faces and warm hospitality at Sametu Camp. JJ, camp manager, is one of the friendliest people I have ever met. The food was very good and the tents are rustic but we'll furnished. We had hot water bottles in our beds at night! Everything was quite perfect during... More

This is a semi-permanent tented camp. Each tent has a bathroom, shower, sitting area with comfy chairs and a desk, a large bed, and seating outside the entrance of the tent. It has views of grassland and stream. We felt very secure in the tents, even though wildlife did come very close. At night, there is a native escort to... More

We so appreciate you taking the time to post such a positive review of Sametu Camp and we are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay so much. It is always wonderful when the wildlife comes into or nearby the camp and I also sleep so well just drifting off to the sounds of nature at night. Since your stay in... More

Wonderful camp well situated in central Serengeti. We stayed in a wonderful Family tent with two bedrooms and two bathrooms! Luxury camping for sure...hot showers on demand, w/c with flushing toilet and wood floor, vanity/sink with running water, comfortable beds with duvets and hot water bottles at bedtime! The food was wonderful, staff amazing. An excellent experience.

Equally well run camp in Serengeti. You just can't go wrong with these camps by Karibu. We were the only 4 people at this camp in early April. Great service, and staff, just like Lion Paws! If there is one suggestion, if you live in a cold climate country, you may find the locals view 'cold' very differently. Us from... More

Thank you again for such a positive review. I think I should clarify for our American guests that the "teens" is Celsius and not Fahrenheit! The rim of the Crater is at about 8,000 feet of elevation and in the cooler months it can drop to 40s and low 50s at night. Thank God for hot water bottles and gas... More

For three years I've brought the participants on my nature photography safaris to the Sametu camp. It's always a highlight of the trip. The relaxed atmosphere, scenery, proximity to the wildlife and staff make the camp a great experience.

We had a wonderful experience from the moment we arrived, greeted by Jonas, his staff, and some local giraffes. The tents are roomy with comfortable beds, flush toilets, sinks and a shower. Sitting out by the campfire watching the sunset over the Serengeti while we were served drinks is an experience I will never forget. The meals were excellent! Being... More

We had the pleasure of staying at this permanent tented camp while on safari recently. It far exceeded our expectations, and Jonas, our camp host, made us feel right at home. The lounge/bar tent was very comfortable and fully stocked, and the dining tent was like dining at a fine restaurant. Our tent was very comfortable and well appointed, with... More

We stayed at the Sametu Camp for 3 nights as part of our 12 day safari itinerary. Excellent location, exceptional service with a smile and a true "bush" experience with all the creature comforts. Watching the unbelievable African sunrises from our tent was an added bonus. Thank you for a job very well done!!

When one hears about a 'tent camp' it's easy not to picture what it truly amounts to - which is a feeling of rustic luxury where solid walls are simply replaced by canvas. The setting was spectacular. We watched the moon come up behind the camp-fire each early evening and early risers catch a spectacular sunrise. We could see elephants... More

“Ask for a tent close to the dining area if you don't want a long walk. We enjoyed the tent at the end because it was close to the grasslands. Not a long walk to the dining hall but some might like to be a bit closer.”
