I was in and out of Harare for a full month, and probably stayed here a collective two weeks. The staff was so nice and accommodating, super helpful in getting us around town (calling taxis and giving directions). They let us keep part of our luggage at the hostel while we spent a couple of days at Victoria Falls. The... More

The atmosphere and the people reminds me of a hostel in Europe, which is great! However, we stayed during winter time and we were never able to shower with hot water and the rooms were cold with any kind of heater. The reason for lack of hot water was that there is only two bathrooms available for 5 rooms and... More

Not too many people go to Harare. The hotels are expensive and this is a budget option for those who want access to CBD and shops for coffee or souvenirs. It's easy to get around on the kombi. The place is clean but a little run down. The owners are friendly and can organize tours. They have WIFI and a... More

This is a nice place, but there are no "backpackers" here... I saw only local people. The employees are friendly, but in the cold Zimbabwean winters I was so cold I got sick. There is no heating and doors and windows are left wide open. In the dorm where I stayed, one woman had been there a month and had... More

Dear Thank you for your valuable remarks. We will look into that next winter. Our fire place is on until 10:30 every winter. Due to climate change our winters are getting harsh especially at night. Point taken Thank you for your review. regards More

Clean, quiet, decent location, good wifi, small but clean kitchen. Walking distance to the shops, the US embassy and the Mozambican embassy. You can get a chapa to anywhere at the Avalon shops down the road and the orange atm across from Food Lovers Market gives crispy US hundreds. The flea market is behind the Avalon shops and there is... More

I stayed there one night on two different occasions. If based off my first experience, I would have given it a 4. I had a private room, great experience with the staff, nice and fast internet, and the only thing I could complain about was the lack of mosquito nets with all of the mosquitoes. The second time I stayed... More

This was my second time at Small World. The first was 9 years ago. Not much had changed - it's still fairly funky. But the price is right, rooms are adequate, beds fine, wifi free, food available on site (also reasonably priced) or you can cook in the communal kitchen. They have great coffee! There's a small bar with soda,... More

The place is not too far away from city centre in a quiet neighbourhood. If you are doing all your cooking and grocery shopping, it is indeed the best value in Harare. Everything you need for a short or long term stay can be found in this accommodation, including the clothes line. However, the communal kitchen could be better equipped.... More

I was here with a friend last year. The place is quiet and tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Showers and ablutions unfortunately are communal.
