Even though we pre-ordered and arrived on time it tool 2hrs to produce the food! it seemed a surprise that anyone would turn up looking to eat. Food was good, but seems a bit painful waiting for them to go fishing first.

Good hotel in Bissau that is safe, clean and comfortable. The price is high but as horrible as some other Bissau "5" stars hotels. There is really a big difference between the suite and double room - seems like they dont care much about the double rooms where almost nothing works and you get a feeling of run down facilities.... It's not a dump, but it's not luxury. Relatively clean, but everything is cheap and falls apart easily. If you're looking for a decent place to get some rest or meet with people, this will work. Good central location and easy access to stores. Walking distance to the UN. About 40,000 CEFA a night for a basic room. If you... More

The hotel does not have much to attract one to it on the face of it, but it is comfortable and the staff are extra friendly. I choose to stay there when I go for business despite some of the minor inconveniences. The staff go out of their way to make you comfortable and welcome you back like good old... More

This is one of the few hotels in Bissau. They speak english, french and of course Portuguese. The rooms are fairly decent and the toilets are clean and neat. The wi-fi is working fine. They do not accept credit cards only cash. The room tariff is not as high as compared to other hotels. Taxis are available outside the hotel. The staff... More

Very nice hotel. In the center of Bissau. Very clean. Wifi in all the hotel (rooms and restaurant/bar). The price is high, but is cheaper than the other hotels in Bissau. You can go on foot to the main public services. Poor breakfast. Don´t forget you are in Guinea-Bissau, a very poor country.

In the mess of Bissau, Ancar Hotel is a real oasis. Although expensive (but much less than others) the kindness of the staff (always helpful to solve your many, many "problems"), the constant improvements and the delicious restaurant make the stay easy. Unfortunately no-smoking areas are absent. Run by a real manager - Mr Ussumane.
