We stayed one night at La Maison Gallieni after a long flight from the US, and while we were only there for a matter of hours (we had an early morning flight the next day due to an unexpected schedule change - thanks Air Madagascar), the staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and well...

This "boutique hotel" is located in a beautifully restored mansion that housed Madagascar's first bank, was the home of General Gallienie, a French colonial governor of Madagascar and now doubles as the consulate of Monaco in Madagascar and the home of the Monagasque consul general. We were amazed when we stepped through the heavily guarded entrance and into the hall...

What a wonderful spot in the centre of the city. Such a friendly welcome in this exquisitely decorated boutique hotel. They are delighted to cook meals for you and nothing is too much trouble. I would definitely stay again.

My husband and I started our month-long trip to Madagascar at Maison Gallieni, and this was a great choice. After nearly 19 hours of flights over three days, we were picked up at the airport by our Za Tours guide extraordinaire Michel and driver, and deposited at this lovely location for the night. We were greeted by staff, led to...

The other reviews say it perfectly but this is a wonderful place to stay in Tana a short walk from the stairs down to the center of the city with great views of the city below. The room was great with top amenities (although wifi was working mainly in the lobby). The staff was very helpful and we had a...

We stayed here for two nights - once on the way to Nosy Sakatia(off Nosy Be) and then on our way back home. We were really pleased that we had been recommended this place by Bianca at Icon Expeditions. Antananarivo is a congested and smoggy city and it pays to stay up on a hill. Maison Gallieni, which is part...

I can't really add anything to Andrew C's review, below, other than to echo everything he says. This is a really special place with charming, helpful staff. Everything is of such good quality which, having travelled for sometime in Madagascar, was a refreshing change. The location is great, but it does take time to get to from the airport, so...

The hotel is located in a very quiet area (as a solo female traveller I was advised not to go out on my own - but i am sure it would have been safe!). But I wasn't in Antananarivo for long ( there isn't much to see or do in the city). The staff at the hotel looked after me...

Maison Gallieni is perhaps the best place to stay in Tana right now. I stayed in 4 well known hotels in the capital during the months of March and April 2015, and out of that crop, it was head and shoulders above them all. It definitely cannot be classed as one of the many reasonable (but fading) well established hotels...

We stayed at La Maison Gallieni at a couple of points on our trip and we were delighted with our choice. The rooms were immaculate, the beds very comfortable, bathrooms spacious, and the staff provided the warmest of welcomes on both occasions. We had an evening meal and breakfast on both occasions and lunch on one. The food was excellent...
