I really loved my short stay in the Meroe Tented camp... it was very close to the actual pyramids (10 minute camel ride away) and the camp itself was very comfortable and welcoming, after a long drive from Khartoum. Fudul, in particular, was a very friendly welcome. The tents are cosy and the beds were far more comfortable than I...

The tents were spacious and when you wake up in the morning, you have the grand view of the pyramids. It was magical! We stayed for one night only. Dinner was adequate and and breakfast was alright. Before, we head out to the pyramids, we were welcomed by the local guides with their camels. Of course, some of us decided...

The manager, Silvia, is very attentive and makes you feel welcome and special. The tents are large and comfortable, although no attention is paid to decoration, so furnishings are comfortable but with zero charm. The baths have strong points and weak points. The strength is that they are brick and mortar baths with showers and solar panel-heated water, one bath...

The room is just like a non-tented bedroom save that the "roof" and "walls" are canvas. Two single beds with a bedside table between them, a desk and a chair. Each room has its own exclusive flushing loo and hot water shower in a seperate block to the back of your tent. Meals are taken in a seperate larger building...

The manager of the property was attentive and accommodating from beginning to end. We traveled with a few families and she was happy to work with our schedule and special requests. The tents are simple but spotless and look as if they are all brand new. Each tent has a dedicated bathroom with shower just behind. The food was lovely...

Meroe has to be one of the least explored yet wonderful historical/archaeological sites I have ever been to. Was at Meroe camp for two nights. Food was surprisingly good considering how far we were from everywhere. I was in no. 10 tent which was the furthest out and had the most privacy. The camp was about a 20-30 min walk...

Fantastic location, magnificent view and great time guaranteed in desert. We went on a family trip (in april 2014, and actually we were four families, with a bunch of kids ranging between 2ys old to 14ys) and we all had a great time. Great service, good food, excellent hosts, very hospitable people with great stories ... everything that we were...

If you've come out to Bagrawiya to see the UNESCO World Heritage site "pyramids of Meroe," you don't have much choice for spending the night. The Meroe Tented Camp is pretty much it, and pricey for the budget traveler. But what you discover when you get there is a truly unique experience of basic amenities adapted with extraordinary sensitivity to...

Sylvia was our hostess. Service was excellent, food fantastic and a wonderful setting. A new dining room and lounge was under construction which will lift the tented camp to new heights. The tents and bedding are not styled as luxury safari tents but are comfortable. We lacked hot water but then in the hot dessert this is not a major...

Wonderful location on an escarpment overlooking the distant pyramids and it's well worth hiring a camel and riding to them for dawn or dusk. If you are lucky you will have them to yourself - it's worth every penny, even if you are a novice on a camel and have a sore bottom for the next 2 days! If you...
