Stayed here for three nights and enjoyed our stay. Rooms and facilities are incredibly basic with the beds being rock hard and no hot water for showers, but this was made up for from the super helpful and friendly staff. Probably a bit expensive for what it is, but a great place to stay if you don't mind basic accomodation.

Stayed there as part of a trek in November. Rooms are simple but clean, staff are excellent and very attentive and professional. Grounds are an oasis from the Thamel madness. Will definitely stay again when next in Kathmandu

We were booked into the hotel by our trek company. The hotel is very standard for Nepal. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. A lovely courtyard to sit and visit or have a beverage away from the dust of the city. Service at the front desk, the restaurant and the doormen was excellent. Very nice people working...

Like most people we were put here by our trek company. My first thoughts were am I staying at Nanna's house? The curtains, bedspreads and towels could do with an update. But after staying in other areas of Kathmandu this hotel is in a very quiet location for Thamel. The breakfast is surprisingly good too. If you can get past...

After staying on 2 separate occasions I've been disappointed both times.. the cost of an airport transfer is 3x other hotels, both times there has been really loud music playing next door.. the shower doesn't have the ability to wash you bit instead sprays the rest of the room.. I'm having to use a friends shower because it's too much...

We were booked into Shakti by our trek company. The rooms are clean but basic. The first night we stayed in a room where the fan did not work and it took quite alot of effort to get it changed. The shower pressure was not good and we were disturbed by loud music from a bar nearby. The beds were...

Stayed in this hotel arranged by the trekking company my friend and I joined. Location is not as good as some other hotel as it is at one end of Thamel street. From the main shopping street of Thamel, one still has to walk quite a distance to get to the hotel. The rooms at Shakti are big but the...

I don't understand the negative reviews on here. This is Kathmandu and Nepal is a poor country. The hotel is not 'The Ritz' but it is ideal for a trekking start and finish point. The rooms are good compared to most in Kathmandu. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is 2 mins from the shopping district and not...

Stayed here prior to a Geckos Adventures trek to Everest Base Camp. Unfortunately weather left us stuck in Kathmandu for 3 extra nights and for ease we stayed at the Shakti throughout. The rooms were very basic, doors wouldn't close properly, showers barely worked and had no curtains or way to separate them from the rest of the bathroom and...

Stayed here as part of a tour group and would not recommend. The rooms varied in quality but included no-pressure showers, intermittent power supply, poor wifi and thin pieces of foam in place of mattresses. Several people also complained of itchy bites during the night. There are cheaper places nearby of higher quality. However, staff were very friendly and location...
