The mythical Garuda Hotel, doesn't exist anymore. They still have pictures and autoghaphs from famous climbers like Rob Hall and Scott Fisher, but you can just pay a visit and take a picture of it's walls. Now it's runned by chineses and has a different name. The rooms are still in the 90's and need to be renovated urgently. The...

Let's get it straight from the start: if you're a light sleeper, you should look elsewhere. The hotel is right in the middle of Thamel. Sights are within walking distance and there are plenty of restaurants and souvenir shops along the road. But there is a pub with live singing just right next door. I personally didn't mind hearing Coldplay...

Quite an old hotel in the heart of Thamel. Totally lacking in maintenance. Our room was a bit mouldy. Bathroom's pretty old and badly stained. But staffs are very friendly and helpful, especially their security guard/bellboy.

Hotel Garuda is an old and well known institution i Kathmandu. The location in the middle of Thamel with all the restaurants and shops are just around the corner. Rooms are basic and not overpriced your breakfast you take at "Crazy Burger" downstairs, not crazy at all. ATM and supermarket very close. The staff is very friendly and can help...

I have stayed in this guesthouse on multiple occasions dating back to 1997. The location is right in the middle of thamel which is great. For those wanting a quiet night sleep. I challenge you to find anywhere in Kathmandu where you can escape the dread beep beep. On each occasion I have found the staff to be very accommodating....

The hotel is quite well maintained, and it is subject to mention, it has electricity for 24 hours... I know, it sounds ridiculous, but if you are researching about Nepal, you'd better consider that fact... In the evening location is bit noisy; never ending horns and shouts from the street, not to mention a bars and live music, which however...

I picked this Hotel for price and location. Luckily, being a musician, the bar next door was where I went each evening to jam with the local musicians. They kept calling me back, so I got a chance to play almost every night that I cared to. Doorman likes Whisky. Very convenient internet cafe in the lobby, and also a...

Just came back from Kathmandu where our group stayed at Garuda. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The accomodation was very, very basic. The rooms had no airconditioning although they later supplied us with a fan because our room was so unbearably hot. It was really noisy from the night club next door which belted out a repition of songs...

Stayed here a while ago but I just joined TripAdvisor and wanted to review the hotel. I enjoyed this place very much, we stayed here after doing the Anapurna trek and I could barely get down the stairs, which was good because the signed pictures of decades worth of climbers grace the walls of the stairwell....be sure to take a...
