Really enjoyed our stay here. The location is excellent, right in the centre of town and within walking distance of the shops and downtown historic sights. The hotel itself has a lovely historic feel.

A really quiet hotel, organic food, plastic free. Taking care of the environment. Amazing architecture. Nearby Thamel but not in the middle of it. Free yoga classes every morning. Really good breakfast.
We stayed here 3 years ago. This time our room was noisy, small and uninspiring. Staff didn't answer questions but had some general standard answers ("we know what all tourists want"). Food was presented very nicely but was rather bland.

They arranged for a airport pickup for me. It is not the hotel that picks you up but instead they arranged with a taxi firm. That is not problem but it did mean that when the driver was very close he had to ask someone in Thamel for directions for the exact alley the hotel is down (I was still got slightly lost after a few days there), but it was really no problem.

I don't think you need to be picked up at the airport. I walked out recently, and got offered first off a taxi to the hotel for £6,. English . Or $6.- Australian, I can't remember, but it was the first offer I got, and I couldn't be bother haggling after a long flight to save maybe a few cents. The hotel will organise anything you want. They charge more like $10.- Australian , but then you have a sort of guarantee. The hotel reception staff is really friendly and intelligent, you can talk to them. I booked my taxi to the airport to leave Kathmandu via them , even though it is a little more expensive that way than walking down the street , but I wanted a feeling of guarantees. The hotel is really good. As for booking direct, any hotel pays a percentage to the system that you book through, so it is always, internationally, possible to get a better deal if you deal direct. But then you might feel a little nervous and uncertain, and is it worth it. The people behind the counter at the hotel are really intelligent. They speak great English and have a sense of humour. You can talk to them.
