Hotel is very old and the lobby and hallways have a musty smell. However the rooms are clean and nice, the breakfast is pretty good and the location is very central. It's obvious that the staff and management are using their best efforts to provide good service.

Not a bad hotel well located, a little tired old bathrooms etc... but it's clean, breakfast is good compared to other local hotels, my room did have a window but on to a ventilation shaft so no view but I did get sunlight in the morning which I like. I would use this hotel again when in town

Great hotel with a great location for a very good price The staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. The room is clean an quiet. The bathroom was clean too. The room is a bit old but keeps its charm and the bed is very comfortable Would definitely recommend.

Otherwise this place is severely run down. The carpet is beyond any conventional methods of cleaning, the ceilings are woeful, the plumbing variable, the aircon is on it's way out and the emergency flashlight is long dead. The breakfast was passable. The free bicycle was ok ($1000 deposit required - this is bizarre as they have your passport copied and...

We enjoyed our stay here at Premier Hotel. Not too many tourists during our stay in mid December. Stayed here for 3 nights in this boutique hotel. At NT2400 per night for a family of 4, this is reasonable value, given they also provide buffet breakfast (western and taiwanese food). The breakfast is actually quite good! It's a bit old...

This is my 3rd time to Tainan and have been staying at the Dynasty Hotel the last 2 visits but this visit decided to give Premier Hotel a try and I regretted it. Walking distance from the railway station is approx 10mins. First impression this is very old hotel. Check in is swift The room is old and large but...

We stayed here about 9 days. Great location. There is a 7-11 store around the corner and about 10 min walk to tainan rail station and main bus station. Here the taxi is quite affordable too since everywhere is quite short. To Tainan rail station about 85NTD less than $3 or to main attraction is about same too. Then take...

We stayed here for 1 night and would stay here again if we were going to Tainan again. The walk from the main train station took about 10 min, but once we got to the hotel, everything was quite convenient. The bus to go to the Garden Night Market is only around the corner (30 second walk). You do have...

This hotel reminded me of places I stayed in Asia in the 1970s--and has evidently not been upgraded since. I thought it was kind of fun and funky--my wife thought old and a little scary. The staff was very nice, however, and it's in a great location for exploring downtown Tainan. The room seemed clean if a bit dilapidated. Breakfast...

Of walking distance to the train station and a nice park, this hotel is very convenient but quiet. Though the outlook is outdated, the room is spacious and functional. Taking into account the price (1800 taiwan dollars) this is very good value for money.

Staying in West Central District/ North District

Neighbourhood Profile
West Central District/ North District
The West Central District is the most populous and the busiest area. A lot of shops and hotels crowd the district, and the long-standing history results in a variety of street food. In addition to that, this district also has the highest number of temples. This is how it got the name “Tainan’s Pantheon.” Historic buildings are literally ubiquitous. For example, Hayashi Department Store, National Museum of Taiwan Literature, Confucius Temple, Chihkan Tower (formerly Fort Provintia), Sacrificial Rites Martial Temple, Tainan Grand Mazu (name of a goddess) Temple, etc. Recently, the tourism in Tainan has laid emphasis on alleys and lanes. Examples include Fujhong Street specialising in creative handicrafts, as-you-stroll desserts on Jhengsing Street, Shennong Street lined with hundred-year-old ancient houses, Sinyi Street on which the old city gate stands, Sinmei Street where old and new cultures fuse together, and Guohua Street and Baoan Raod famous for all the savoury food. All the traditional and delicious food and flavours are about to burst in your mouth. The North District, on the other hand, is a quiet secret hideaway. Lane 321 on Gongyuan Road used to be a Japanese soldiers’ dormitory. Now a few artists have set up their studios here. There are diversified art styles in each old Japanese-style house. The Garden Night Market on Haian Road is one of the famous night markets in both Tainan and Taiwan, and was the top 12 Facebook check-in location worldwide in 2013.
