(+) relatively cheap for a 4-star hotel (-) expensive breakfast (+10% for tax and 7% for service charge) far from BTS, nearest station is around 2 km away from the hotel so we were left with no choice but to take tuk-tuk and taxi which do not use their meter and overcharge us (200 baht minimum) hotel staff seldom smile...

This was our third visit to the Miramar Hotel. This time it was not such a pleasant stay. We were given the same room as last time 540 which I was pleased about. However 12 months has taken it's toll on the hotel. Standards have dropped. The room is around the back, which last year meant a peaceful nights sleep....

Stinky, dirty, old hotel. Impolite staff. I have checked in and checked out without staying. I didn't even enter the room. I had to pay one night stay, but it was worth of escaping. It's not really close to any public transportation facility. Nearest one takes 20 mins of taxi drive in case you can find a taxi and in...

We stayed here for 3 nights on our way travelling to Phuket. The hotel was clean from what I saw.The rooms were a bit dark and beds were not very comfortable. Would not have liked to of stayed for more than 3 nights here. The location was good, a few minutes walk from shops and restaurants. Ate at the hotel...

Our accommodation got thrown in for free with our flights. Stayed in Pattaya for 6 nights then Bangkok for an early flight. Room overcome with cigarette smoke during the night, rolled so a towel and put against the door till morning. Wasn't comfortable at all. Complimentary water wasn't good, no 7/11's close to hotel! Food in restaurant ok. Not again!

Stayed in a suite at this hotel for 4 nights (left a day early due to the bad points) and found the marketing info very misleading. Firstly we imagined a rather grand entrance on a Main Street. It's a corner property with a side entrance on a nondescript, busy dirty street in Bangkok. There are no good amenities nearby &...

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
