My family opted to stay in this hotel for about 1 week. The hotel is situated in very convenient location: MRT station is right in front of the hotel ( u see the exit to” Bangkok Centre Hotel” on your arrival at the Hua Lamphong station, select this rather than looking for Hua Lamphong Hotel itself as this hotel is a small hotel while Bangkok Centre Hotel is a bigger one just nearby). When u look at the map visible inside MRT train, u can see the railway symbol above the name Hua Lamphong station. Yes, railway station is just on the opposite side of our hotel: cross the road to get there. But it seems that such railway station is mainly for travelling to locations outside Bangkok. If u want to travel anywhere from the hotel, u can go by MRT, tuk tuk( with many tuk tuk waiting in front of the hotel usually), even motorbike taxis or taxi... Seven- eleven convenient stores are everywhere in Bangkok and it’s not exception to this hotel. We can buy ice to keep in water bottle for long day travelling from 7-11. My kids love Meji Milk from this store. Starbuck is also nearby. I see many foreigners stay in this hotel. The hotel has been operational since 2009. The lift is quite slow as per comments by many other reviewers but we can walk using stairs instead. If u dont like this hotel someway, the nearby hotels are Metro Hotel, Bangkok Centre Hotel... …
The hostel is ideally located right across the street from Bangkok's main railway station. It's also right next to the Metro station which allows you to be in downtown Bangkok in a matter of minutes at a low cost. I walked in off the street very early in the morning without a reservation. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly and arranged my room within minutes. The single room was simple but comfortable , quiet and very clean. The shower was hot and a towel and soaps were provided. The TV, wifi and A/C were all in good order . There was also a small safe in the room. It's not the Ritz but for the price it's good value for money. The breakfast - dining area was good and breakfast was very good. The food and drink prices were higher than you would pay on the street, but it was comfortable , air-conned and away from the traffic noise and pollution. Overall a good place to stay for a short stay in Bangkok.…
This is the second time staying here. Last time was about 3 years ago. Still a nice place and the elevator moves faster now. Very handy by train station for train and MTR subway. If you come up Exit 1 you are only about 15 yds away from hotel entrance. I had one of the small single no window bedrooms but it was fine....and in fact there are two small high windows that let in daylight. There is a good little cafe on the corner near by (12Go) and also the food court at the rail station and a 7/11 around the corner. Lots of good food and shopping at Chinatown just a few minutes walk away.
This establishment is located near the central train hub, so excellent location if you plan to travel or see Thailand by train. The place is clean, their cafe/breakfast is good and the service is friendly.
They have a poor cancellation policy. We had to cancel our nights stay due to torrential rain on the outskirts of Bangkok making it simply too dangerous to continue on our motorcycles to this hotel, we messaged to inform them of this at 8pm which was the best we could do. Next day we arrived, I apologized we wanted to check in - there was no understanding of our situation, just a statement from the receptionist "Do not try to to negotiate with me". We've been charged the full amount from our credit card. And the lie saying its booking.com policy, it's not booking. com it's your hotel policy plain and simple, I know how it works I have my own hostel registered with booking. com. This is simply greedy and gains you no happy customers.
My wife and I traveled to Thailand for a 10-Day Stay...3-days in upcountry Thailand along the Thai-Laotian Border and the remaining 7-Days in Bangkok. Since we are permanently retired to the Philippines from the U.S., we take a trip every other year to some place where I was assigned during my 20-Years in the Air Force overseas. What we were looking for was a nice place to stay that would require us to be picked up at BKK (referred to as Suvarnabhumi) Airport and transported to wherever we had planned on staying. Initially, we booked with a hotel located off of Sukumvit Boulevard but, they wanted to charge us exorbitant fees for the pickup and wouldn't provide further transportation to the Bangkok Railway Station for us to depart upcountry. So I started to look for an alternative facility to stay in and found the perfect place..."@ Hua Lamphong Hostel", which was located directly across the street from the Bangkok Railway Station. They offer rooms for families, weary backpackers and a room for just my wife and I (which was on par for many of the nice hotels that we have stayed in whenever we traveled anywhere). So, I contacted the members @ Hua Lamphong Hostel via their email (firstname.lastname@example.org) and informed them of our flight number and arrival time. The management was more than willing to come out and pick us up at BKK Airport. However, when departing Manila via Philippine Air Lines, there was an Electrical Storm that delayed our departure time by 3-hours while we patiently waited on the plane to depart. Thus, I was worried that whomever was to pick us up, would show up when we hadn't even departed from Aquino International Airport (which held true upon our arrival at BKK Airport, as there was no one to be found). We made contact with Customer Service that was able to call the reservations clerk @ Hua Lamphong Hostel and, they were initially under the impression that we had changed our minds, only to learn of the lateness of our arrival and immediately dispatched a driver to come out and pick us up at the airport. In fact, a young lady NOT affiliated with @ Hua Lamphong Hostel even gave us a large piece of cardboard to write our names on and asked us to hold it up, so when our expected driver arrived, they would know who we were. The driver arrived soon thereafter and apologized for the confusion and whisked us off to @ Hua Lamphong Hostel. Upon our arrival, we realized that this facility was much nicer than what we expected. The reservation clerk was very courteous and provided us with some expedient service, as we were departing early the following morning for upcountry Thailand via the Thai Railway System that I had pre-purchased railway tickets with on-line. We were instructed to take the rather small and slow elevator up to the floor where we had our room and, placed in a very nice comfortable room with a Queen Size Bed, Flat Screen TV, Air-Conditioned and private bath with shower. @ Hua Lamphong Hostel is also located within China Town and their was ample places to catch a late night meal, as @ Hua Lamphong Hostel have stopped serving their evening meal. So, if we ever have a chance to return back to Bangkok again, we will once again reserve a room with @ Hua Lamphong Hostel again.…
The room was very clean with a comfortable bed. Aircon worked well, TV was OK. Very easy walk to Hua Lamphong Railway station, also to MTR station. Easy taxi ride to places we wanted to visit. Staff were very friendly and polite. Coffee was a bit expensive compared to other options nearby.
Place was clean, tidy. Shower worked reasonably well, although smelled a bit. Breakfast was fine. All in all everything was fine. Perfect for a base to use the train station or visit Chinatown. No more.
Wouldn't stay here for more than one day. Only booked this place because it was close to Hua lamphong train station. It's far from everything but the metro station is just right outside. Definitely nothing special.
I have always wanted to take a train ride here in Thailand. So from Pattaya we decided to take the train down to Bangkok. Spend a quick night and then head home we chose this hotel because it was close to the train station. The location is ideal directly across from the train station and next to the subway line. The room was fairly priced clean good air conditioning good water pressure flat screen TV. Great value for money
