Unfortunately, this hotel has shown its age and not so gracefully either. The carpet even in the non-smoking floor where i was billeted, reeked of cigarette smoke. Bathroom's shower/bath tub drainage was slow to drain. And am glad that I did not include a breakfast buffet in my booking since a visit to the area, with a plan of taking...

Stayed 1 night here for memory sake as well as to meet a business associate with office in Chinatown area. The hotel has become dated and it is important to keep up with other modern hotels. Maintenance seems to be laxed - wires, bathroom tapes, doors, room safes. Grand China has a Starbucks on the ground floor and small retail...

The service is as good as anywhere in the world. They used to be expensive 20 years ago but now they are more cost effective. They have a restaurant on the 10th floor which is very well priced but the quality is better elsewhere at formal restaurants that are also well priced. But the food is still good and very...

Lovely breakfast, as much as you wanted to eat. Nice large and comfortable double room. Staff were very friendly. A little bit far from the tourist attractions such as Grand Palace and the expat area but located in lively Chinatown.

A bit out of town but the hidden jewel surrounded by such poverty. English not that great but as helpful as they could be. They're a bit sticky about changing crumpled money at reception. Clean, and friendly.

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
