We arrived at the Montien Hotel for the first two nights of our honeymoon and were greeted by the most cheerful Porters/greeters/door openers (not sure of their official title!) on earth! They were really genuinely friendly. When we arrived at the (very impressive looking) front desk we were told that we had been upgraded. We made our way up the...

The hotel is located in front of Patpong, a walking street at night, which is amusing (beware if you are religious or with children; a lot of exotic shows). The breakfast was good, liked the sushi a lot. The rooms were average (not very clean; found ants in our room) and needed renovation; just good enough for a shower and...

It has been a while since my last stop in Bangkok and stay at the Montien and I'm happy to report that the place is as good as it was the first time. Sure, there are a few cracks and patches in the old girl, but she stll presents well. The service was good, and the guys at the door...

ALthough an old hotel, still very good rooms, staf and food. Highly recommednded. Only very minor complaint is the very limited choices of TV channels. Unless your are British (BBC) or Russian (RT) theres not much else to watch

I stayed in this hotel as part of a tour with Titan Tours last year and it was by far the worst hotel of the trip. The rooms were tired, dated and musty although the public areas were fine to be honest and the breakfast was excellent. They really need to update the rooms, but worst of all is the...

How nice it is to arrive at your hotel, tired after a long train ride, and be shown to your room well before the published check-in time. (arrived at 1130). Not only was the early check in no problem, but we were also told a late check out (1400), was OK if we wanted. So, very pleasant first impressions, but...

Not only value for money, travellers in Bangkok will really appreciate to be right in the heart of Silom area, a few steps only from Pap Pong night market area, at the reach of hundreds of restaurants, shops and very well connected with the rest of the city by public transport. Surrounded by gardens, outdoor pool, and with all the facilities...

I have stayed at the Montien twice, I love the closeness to Pat Pong night Markets, you can shop till you drop, then drop your shopping off at your room, and go back to have a drink at one of the many bars. All the staff are fantastic and helpful with anything, the door man if fun and he will...

Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
