It's without question a wonderful hotel with perfect service and amenities (we loved the afternoon tea at authors lounge!) Only one thing that irritated us: The hotel keeps birds in small cages in their garden. Did not understand why a five-star hotel in the 21st century treats animals like that (especially in Thailand)

We were fortunate enough to dine at Ciao on the terrace at the mandarin Oriental . From the moment we sat down the whole wonderful experience began. We were welcomed like long lost friends, the chef came over to talk to us and was so attentive, The food was fabulous and we can't wait to go back.

My stay felt magical, I couldn't have asked for a better experience! The staff was great, the service was great. Staying here was a perfect opportunity to meet other like-minded individuals. There wasn't one room in the hotel that was not my least favorite.

The lobby is a lovely spot. The lobby provides liver entertainment sometimes. The Lord Jim restaurant is very good indeed, especially for seafood. The service is excellent and the view of the river is a treat.

The hotel has a wonderful riverside position and our room had a great view. The hotel has a classic style with wonderful reminders of times gone by, even down to the switches in the bedroom. It is pure luxury and the service impeccable. We have had wonderful sleeps. There is a butler on each floor 24 hours a day and... More

It was great - food was fantastic, as was the staff and the location. Spa was wonderful as well! the concierge helped us tremendously with reservations and ideas... More

For a large hotel, the Mandarin manages to make the service and atmosphere personal so that it feels smaller. There is nothing to fault, everything was beautiful and elegant and I applaud their efforts to maintain sophistication with the dress code (why oh why would anyone come here with jean hotpants...) We particularly loved the Bamboo bar with the live... More

Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
