Food at Salathip was amazing. Great ambience and friendly staff. We enjoyed the traditional dance show. Special mention to Yuwannee, Pree and Wattanna. So keep up the good work and hoping to see you soon.
Stayed here in late August 2022. The dimsum buffet at Shang Palace was amazing. The Friday seafood buffet was just as nice - we really enjoyed the scallop-foie gras pairing although the crabs were on the small side. Late night drinks at the lobby with a view of Icon Siam a must-do. My only quibble is the lack of an outlet next to the bed - an impossible situation for people who sleep with a CPAP. This hotel is old but still beautiful and although we only got an ordinary room, we had a partial view of Icon Siam and a great view of the Assumption Church.
I decided yesterday to go eating by a friend, who is owner of Italian restaurant, close to Saphan Taksin,BTS station.I saw that Shangri-la is close and I wanted to take a drink in the rooftop bar. At front desk they told me ,they don't have one, that's why I decided to drink in the lobby bar.I drunk two of my best cocktails in my life, Negroni and Margherita.I was really surprised that Time, who made it,was a trainee. The GM should be proud to have such a strong staff who participates to make the hotel great. Only a good staff today, makes the difference between a good or not, hotel.
Good take care of our family ,went Next2cafe with family for Lunch, nice service, great food, beautiful location view, wonderful hotel carrying staff also had butter chicken and Lamb curry special offers by chef singh , mouth watering food , thanks again Indian chef singh,
It was a solid 4+ stars...now barely a 4. Miserable check in process was ameliorated when management sent 2 nice Chilean wines as a peace offering. Not a 3 but staff needs work to keep from dropping to there. We were finally given a lovely river view room on 22nd floor but that was after getting into the room--- promised for 2pm---at almost 5pm. Our 4th time here. Potentially our last.
Nice hotel- some reviews note the rooms are dated, they are old-fashioned but they still feel opulent and are very clean. We didn’t have a great experience with service though. I am part-Asian and travel regularly to south east Asia. This is the first time I have really noticed biases against Asian guests, and multiple over a short stay. We were stood in the taxi queue behind other Asian guests and the staff took a western gentleman from the back of the queue to the front… completely ignoring our request and others ahead of us, for a taxi. We were also given a table at breakfast by a waitress, went in to get food and when we returned the same waitress handed us our things with no apology which we’d left on the table (there was western couple sitting there now). At the bar a young western couple sat at the same time as me and had half finished their drinks before I was able to get service. These may all be coincidences but it’s the first time I’ve ever noticed this sort of behaviour anywhere and it was very sad to see.…
We had an enjoyable two-night stay at the Shangri-La. The front desk and bellman were hospitable and efficient. Our room was spacious, quiet and well-maintained. We enjoyed the couch overlooking the river and enjoyed a sunset from there. We also enjoyed the pool area overlooking the river. The hotel is across the river from ICONSIAM, which has a shuttle boat across the river. The hotel offers a shuttle to the boat, however, we found it easier to walk given that is roughly 5 minute walk. ICONSIAM has a food court (SOOKSIAM) with street food from around Thailand and is one the places we like to eat at while in Bangkok. I have stayed in roughly two dozen hotels in Bangkok, mostly highly rated, but never on the river. I liked the hotels location overlooking the river, close proximity ICONSIAM and feel it’s a nice hotel. It is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in and would rate 9 out 10.…
I have stayed at Shangri-la hotels across the world and have always enjoyed them . This one is in a great location, but looked slightly dated , felt soleless and not as special as others. Maybe a function of low traveller numbers and getting up to speed after lockdown. Rooms were clean but we did not eat here as we went out for a bit of atmosphere
Everything about this hotel is amazing the staff can’t help you enough I’ve stayed here many times and every time it just gets better and better The views are out of this world, the hotel is spotless clean and the pool is heavenly Special Thank you to Jackyapong the hotel manager who made our trip perfect and helped in every way he could see you again next year!
A great place to stay, so central and the staff are exceptional. What's not to like when they even serve ice cream for breakfast. Well, you are on holidays so why not treat yourself? Would go back in a heartbeat. Also we accidentally left our passports and about 800,000 Bhart in the safe. We were 2 hours away when we realised. No dramas, quick phone call to them and they helped arrange a taxi to deliver it to us (all intact). Now that is 7-star service. Soo good, so honest, nothing is too much trouble. Thanks Cheers June & Mark Korol
