This hotel is clean but needs some repair and maintenance. The aged bathroom sink's stopper broken so I can not push on it to stop water. Soup and shampoo dispenser wasn't my style. Wifi quality was flicky but at least it is free. Free drinking water tasted funny so I opted to buy my own from the 7 11 shops...

I have stayed 3 times at this hotel between 2001 and 2011. Its comfortable, reasonably priced and is within distance of all of Bangkok's main attractions. They have a fine menu for those who want to eat there, also a good Chinese resturant right next door. They are easily contactable and usually respond to even late bookings. They will even...

Large room on top floor (nonsmoking floor) was comfortable. However, very thin curtains so you pretty much wake up shortly after the sun rises. For $65 / nite, there are many other options in Bangkok. Also, not sure I would recommend Chinatown location for first time travellers to the region as the streets are jam packed and the pollution is...

My friends and I stayed overnight and enjoyed the historical element of the hotel and surrounding area. The hotel room was clean, of average size and well maintained with all essential items supplied. The only disappointing part of our stay was the food which was below average. The service however was exceptional, from the point of checking in and at...

The hotel had a very nice and kind of heritage asian feel but well decorated and maintained. I had a dorm room and shared modern bathroom, female area only and for a good price but was the only person in it. The staff were extremely attentive and helpful with 24 hours desk. Internet and towels etc were extras and a...

We've stayed here for a few nights and had a really good time. The hotel stands in the centre of Chinatown, the rooms are OK (we've had a corner room) and they served a nice breakfast. If we ever go back to Bangkok again, we gonna stay in this hotel again.

Room and bathroom smaller than those stayed in at other hotels but hotel clean and with comfortable beds. Good location for exploring Chinatown. Staff friendly and spoke good standard of English. Deposit required for minibar but refundable on departure. Room really quiet so a good nights sleep was easy. Good transport connections available directly outside the hotel. Service available for...

We used to stay at the Chinatown Hotel and, again on last February 2012. Greetings and warm welcome received from most of the hotel staff, as many of them worked over here for a long time, so that they have the experience and know what’s we needed. We also found that many of the hotel premises have been changed and...

Staff was friendly and helpful, but that could not make up for the poor condition of the hotel, lack of maintenance, and general wear and tear of the entire structure. Yes, this is an old Chinatown institution, but it badly needs a complete renovation to compete with the other hotels within a few minutes walk. I stayed two nights before...

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
