It used to be the in place for tourist worldwide. No upgrade to the hotel has been done since 10 years. Customer service was ok if you ask nicely. Wifi Internet is not free, but affordable (200 THB) for 3 days. Rooms were dreary, old carpets, curtains, ancient TV. Make sure you request for non-smoking rooms. There is no bath...

The Malaysia serves my needs perfectly in Bangkok. The price is just right (about U.S. $24 a night). The rooms come with all the essentials---cable TV, air con, mini fridge, and wifi (for a very small additional charge). The reception staff is friendly and the restaurant is convenient when you're hungry and don't want to leave the premises. The hotel...

We stayed here 3 nights as a family of 5 and found it a great base for us. We wanted to avoid the Khao San backpacker crowd, and this proved to be the perfect place to see a bit more 'real' Bangkok from. You can travel by local transport (just a short walk to the Metro station) and eat at...

My room was quiet, and with the air conditioning, quite comfortable. The restaurant downstairs was both in-and-outdoors, with fish splashing about in a small rock water area, which provided white noise and cooling atmosphere. The pool was large and set so there were sunny and shady areas. The staff was friendly, but so were the other guests, who provided essential...

My friends and I arrived on a Thursday. We left on Monday morning. The area where the hotel is located is not a tourist area however the hotel is located very close to the Lumpini underground station. We did not have a problem with cab drivers knowing where this hotel was located. This station allows you to access many tourist...

I have stayed at the Malaysia many, many times. It is easily the best value in Bangkok. The rooms are pretty spartan, but clean and for this price, you can't expect luxury. The staff are fantastic. They remember regular customers and treat you really well. The restaurant is outstanding - excellent Thai food at a reasonable price. The location is...

I always stay here when I am in Bangkok. It is a great location. The rooms (especially the upgraded ones on 6th floor) are extremely good value. But best of all, they are very service oriented. It's hard to believe they can be all of that for under $40 bucks a night.

I have stayed at "The Malaysia" before and am still amazed at how unique+special it remains. I arrived after a long series of flights and after checking in went straight to the SPA for the 1st time. My 2 hour massage was fantastic, ironing out the knots+stress of the previous journeys. The coffee shop/restaurant are great and the deep pool...

An exotic location to spend time with your family. Even couples would enjoy here. Good time to spend towards pool side and of course never to miss the spa as it is something different. Customer service is good. Food has varieties but can be a bit better. Overall nice stay as they also do have some activities for children. Good...

Staying in Sathorn

Neighbourhood Profile
Sathorn
Sathorn is Bangkok’s central business district, but here you’ll find much more than international banks and suited-up office workers. Take a stroll along the small alleys between the skyscrapers and you’ll find yourself among Bangkokians living life at a much slower pace. Feast on fantastic Thai food which you can find in the town-house restaurants, office food courts and sidewalk food stalls spread all over the area, especially around St. Louis Hospital. A visit to Sathorn is not complete without a drink at one of the glitzy sky bars perched atop its skyscrapers.
