Stayed here three weeks ago at the start of a trip to Cambodia and Laos. The hotel has lots of character, being deoorated in retro Chinese colonial style with lovely fabrics and lanterns adding colour. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We arrived early in the morning and were told check in was 2 which we expected - we...

My Fiancé and I stayed here at the start of a 6 month long trip. When we arrived we were knackered after a long journey from London, and the Shanghai Mansion was just what we needed! The staff were incredibly kind and hospitable, and we were made to feel at home at once. We are especially grateful to Is for...

Not often does a designer get their way but they did at this place and it's a welcome relief from the now run-of-the-mill "international with local touches" places. Quiet, unobtrusive and amusingly, tastefully retro-Chinese colonial style but with all mod cons

After thru many reviews on TripAdvisor, had the urged to check out this hotel for myself. Reserved the last 2 days of my holidays to stay at this hotel. Conveniently located at Yaowarat Rd, the main street in Chinatown and close to many eateries. The minute I stepped into the hotel, made us felt like transported back in time to...

I'm so glad I trusted the reviews of this fabulous hotel very close to the Golden Buddha. My boyfriend and I arrived in Bangkok tired, hot and sweaty from a long haul flight. We were greeted by very friendly staff who provided lovely tea and kindly took our very heavy bags upstairs. Our room was a gorgeous oriental theme with...

Stayed here for one night with my girlfriend, first night of our 6 months travelling. Great start to the trip, room was great and staff were very welcoming. The staff arranged taxis for us which helped as we got the meter price rather than being ripped off. Locations not the greatest, but overall really enjoyed our stay.

We spent 2 nights in this hotel. Our suite was beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. The staff were very helpful at all times. Ideally situated for restaurants and travel around Bangkok. The hotel's restaurant was good but the jazz in the bar even better!

In the middle of chinatown, close to many tourist places, the hotel is very good. Staff members are very polite and helpful, rooms are cozy and clean and all of this for a very good price!! I highly recommend.

Rooms were clean with a layout that is fun and I won't spoil. Right on the edge of Chinatown so if you want to go outside and can't handle 'exotic' don't bother, you'll just sound like an armchair traveller. Crazy market district nearby with EVERYTHING, and great food all around. A walk to groovy temples etc.

This hotel is very conveniently located at the start of Yaroawat Road, the Main Street in Chinatown. The staff is super friendly, the hotel and room was clean, and decoration was exquisite. It is affordable, and the mini bar was free and stocked daily. The main negative is precisely that is in Yaroawat Road. The smell right in front of...

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
