Hotel is located in lively chinatown, which is very good place to stroll and eat in the evenings. Very nice wellcoming, refreshing wellcome drink. The design of hotel is very interesting, china in the past style. Impresive. Breakfast choice is not very rich, but very good. Lots of thai/chinese yummies. You can squeeze fresh juice/mix of your choice. Free minibar...

We had a nice stay in this hotel, with average food and cleanliness. However we did have a few hundred $ stolen out of a suitcase in which the money was in a sealed envelope at the bottom of my belongings. We had popped out for breakfast in the hotel and were gone about 30 mins. We returned to our...

I cannot fault anything about this hotel. (Not that i was looking for faults) It is spotlessly clean, very quiet and very comfortable with nice staff. they do charge an extra 1000bht if you want to check in before regular checkin time of 2pm but they were gracious enough to let us have our room earlier as we had been...

Stayed here in July for just a couple days and enjoyed every second. The hotel itself has a really nice vibe to it, gorgeous colour palate, amazing decor and decently sized rooms. The location is right in the heart of China Town, so it made exploring at night through the markets a real treat. It's also not too far from...

We stayed here for 5 nights in January 2014 and it really is difficult to describe, I think it would be best described as a boutique hotel. The room had a four poster bed with drapes, a fridge full of beer, water, soda etc which was free and refilled every day. The service from both the reception and chambermaids was...

We had an 18-hour layover in Bangkok & wanted to spend some time in the city, but not before getting some rest. We weren't sure if we should get a room at the airport or in the center of Bangkok. We made the right choice. Shanghai Mansions is a jewel hidden amongst the chaos that is Bangkok's Chinatown. Employees of...

After reading reviews and seeing pictures we decided Shanghai Mansion looked pretty good, and our expectations were certainly met. Cold towels and chrysanthemum tea upon arrival, and a room with a huge, comfortable bed with the added features you'd expect in a boutique hotel: roll-top bath-tub, rainfall shower head, chaise longue and luxury coconut shower/bath products. The room was comfortable...

We spent 3 nights there, it is right in the middle of the busy Chinatown area. The room was clean, spacious and beautifully decorated, the staff were very efficient and helpful. Breakfasts were delicious and varied (Chinese, Thai, Western food). A very quiet hotel, with a nice bar and pricey restaurant on the 3rd floor. There are regular jazz concerts.

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
