Love from Sukhumvit, Holiday Inn Express Sukhumvit 11

I was glad I made the decision to welcome 2020 in Bangkok and stay in this hotel. It certainly bodes well for the rest of 2020, I think. I spent 4 nights here and loved every part of it. My room on the 6th floor was huge and cozy. There were plenty of electrical outlets in the room so charging your various gadgets is not an issue. The room internet was fast— I had no issues using social media and assessing files. In the evening and at night, the lights in the room cast a lovely glow in the whole room. The shower room/toilet was huge. Hot water for shower came out quickly. At the lobby was a 24-hour Coffee Club and I enjoyed many afternoon snacks and coffee there. The Sukhumvit neighbourhood was busy at all times, but safe and friendly. My favourite laundry (operated by a kind Thai lady) was just around the corner. It’s thus possible to be a long-stay ‘resident’ here without having to break the bank on laundry. The lobby is small but cozy and I spent hours reading there, oblivious to the passage of time and, the new year celebrations in the neighbourhood. This is one of the few properties I will stay whenever I come to Bangkok. Kudos to all staff in Holiday Inn Express Sukhumvit 11.

Stayed from Dec 27 to Jan 1, using my IHG points. Hotel looks new, and so is the room. Front desk staff helpful and friendly. Complimentary breakfast is just so so. Complimentary shuttle to BTS Nana Station is unreliable, if you depend on it to get back to the hotel. It may not show up unless you phone to call it in or book it in advance. It only runs till 4:30pm daily, not helpful if you shop past 4:30. Walking from Nana to the hotel is a pain because the sidewalks are narrow and full of broken and uneven paving stones. Sprained ankles are very likely. Street is narrow and always full of traffic, very dangerous and scary walking among the taxis, bikes and TUK TUK. Housekeeping is terrible. One day, we were given a bath towel which looks like a rag, edges are torn and color is greyish yellow.. Another day, they forgot to refill the toilet paper. We didn't find out till we needed it, late in the evening. Phoned Housekeeping who said will come ASAP. After 15 minutes of no show, phoned front desk who promised will tell housekeeping to come right away and they showed up in less than 5 minutes, brought 2 new rolls of toilet paper and a box of tissue paper which we did not ask for or need.
If you want to stay in a Holiday Inn, I recommend the one at National Stadium Station. Much better breakfast, BTS station right at the door and quieter neighbouhood.

I was allocated a room on a high level. On the 2nd day when returning in the afternoon I noticed a strong smell of mould in the room. The windows are fixed and no chance of fresh air entering unless the cleaner leaves the door open when doing her duties- which I highly recommend.

Ive stayed at Citadines 2 minutes up the street. In comparison.... citadines is 20% more expensive but rooms are bigger and have small kitchen. 2 windows in the mini apartment can be opened. I assume this is why theres no mould smell issue at that hotel. They also have a pool.

To sum up... holiday inn is an ok budget option that is cheaper than hotels close by. Breakfast here is far superior to citadines. But overall citadines is where I would return to be honest

First stay in an ASQ Hotel and not impressed, nobody wants anything to do with you, they charge about double what I would pay on my own, this hotels rules are very strict, must stay in room for almost the entire stay, food is terrible and cold every meal, rooms cleaned rarely, only one english movie channel, in room cooler not cold and hotel would not fix. Will never stay at this location again, best you phone different ASQ hotels and ask what they offer. I think different rules in different hotels, you should ask a lot of questions before choosing hotel to stay. Staff wear hazmat suits.

Tired and worn out with facilities and services way below IHG standards even for a Holiday Inn Express and hence way below expectations. Considering that for a few Dollars more more can stay in a proper hotel instead of a youth hostel atmosphere one should consider that option. My room looked dated and with stained sofa chair covers hardly acceptable under any circumstances. The TV apart from dangling wires offers over 30 channels but at least 10 show no programme and from the few remaining only few are in English language. The working desk corner is in total darkness after sunset leaving few options during the very expensive PCR test do not leave your room days one and five. What makes matters worth is the totally beyond any standards so called food dumped in front of your door during lock down. No choice offered and stone cold simply inedible. A Ripp Off in every aspect and with 3 costly PCR costly PCR tests over 7 days its no wonder that tourists stay away.
Generally speaking your staff is not very courteous and friendly including in the Coffeeshop where a rather mediocre breakfast is being ‘served’ ..............All in all very disappointing until I moved to a hotel where I feel welcome Thai Style!

It is so obivious, that the only reason they open as ASQ hotel is profit !
Everything is so load end to maximize the prodit.
Cold food in very small portions (they tried to fix it by oversize the portions, but only becuase i complained several times)
Same meny morning, lunch and dinner !
Cheap plastic cover the carpet, i can`t see any reason, as the bed an sofa was upholstery, so !!!
Bedsheets old and with holes.
Water supplied was in 1½ L. bottles, cheapes brand they could find, so we could not get cold water, as they could not be in the small fridge.
Out-time on rooftop, that was not suitable for people to stay at all, again, everything for profit !
They could not even manage their own rules, one hour a day, and on the staff`s forms it say 45 minutes etc.
WiFi should be good enough for stream TV, and it was not, i got a wired connection, because i demanded it.
The 10000 we pay more there than on the cheapests ASQ options, is waste of money !!!
I staied in a room, no fire escape, windows could not be opened !!

We had a great time at Holiday Inn Express Sukhumvit. Hotel staff were really helpful and friendly. Plenty of good food options with vegetarian dishes. Because of our travel origin, we were unable to utilize any of the outdoor amenities even after taking three Covid tests (which were all negative) in the duration of our stay which is understandably cautious and was communicated prior to our check in. The WiFi was good (zoom+streaming) and we requested a microwave which they happily provided.

We enjoyed a lovely few days at the Holiday Inn Express Bangkok Sukhumvit 11. We booked the hotel for Our grown up children who flew into BKK via the Test & Go scheme, & we met them there (we live in Samui).
The hotel was very organised & the staff were very pleasant & helpful. The kids flight arrived in at 1315, they were tested & transported to their hotel rooms where they quarantined until their results came back negative at 8pm.
We checked in separately & it was seamless. Our room was on the 8th floor. It was a standard double, which was very clean & had everything we needed. The bed was extremely comfortable & there was a choice of pillows.
Our children had their quarantine food delivered to their bedrooms, including breakfast the next morning.
We ate breakfast in the restaurant - so much choice. Really good experience & the staff were lovely & friendly.
I would highly recommend this hotel. It was well priced, comfortable & near bars & restaurants. A solid 10/10

The rooms are showing signs of wear and tear. Not only that, but the air conditioning broke down every so often (3 times in 6 days) for hours at a time. A matter of luck as to whether you are in at the time. Broken/missing items in my room were replaced when I asked about them, so staff did their best.

Buffet breakfast was replaced by one meal and one drink at Coffee Club downstairs. The meal options were very limited. Some of the standard breakfast items that the café sells, such as baked beans and hash browns, were not available for hotel guests. (Unless you want to buy them separately, of course.)
